FORWARD

If you have been around the world of entertainment for any length of time you need no introduction to the author of this book. The name “Paul Royter” is known the world over as being that of a truly great entertainer. For more than thirty years he has been touring his successful hypnosis show all over the world. His travels have taken him throughout Canada, The United States, Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, Trinidad, Bermuda and extensively throughout Asia and the South Pacific. The general public and the medical gentry have read his writings, which have appeared in countless different publications the world over. Paul Royter is without question one of the world’s leading authorities on stage hypnosis. Having performed his hilarious comedy hypnosis show in excess of 2000 times has led Paul into developing a deep extensive understanding of hypnosis and how the mind works. Unlike many stage hypnotists he has taken the time to learn the inner workings of this craft in great detail. Paul’s extensive knowledge on hypnosis, as both a registered certified hypnotherapist and one of the world’s most incredible stage hypnotists has lead him into developing this remarkable program. “Controlled Destiny” could change your life forever, in so many different positive ways. Dr. Charles R. Mays

INTRODUCTION You are about to embark on an exciting concept. This is a simple concept making use of self hypnosis. You will learn self-hypnosis that anyone can do in a very short time with just a limited amount of effort. You will be taught how to hypnotize yourself by recording and then listening to your own voice. You can record your voice onto a CD, in mp3 format, on your computer, perhaps on your ipod, or any other means of sound duplication that you may have available to you. By following the procedures outlined in this book you will be on your way to making many positive changes in your life. You’ll learn how to actually alter your brain wave patterns. With the help of the compact disk and this electronic book you will be able to program your subconscious mind into making the necessary changes that you want to make in your life. You will be given a sample recording in my own voice. Copying and mimicking the voice patterns and the enunciation, as well as the tonal patterns on the compact disk, will help you to make a perfect recording that can be used over and over again. Soon you will begin to see the positive changes that are happening in your life. These are the same positive changes that you have wanted to achieve for so very long. You will learn to control your own destiny by using self hypnosis to program positive and permanent changes to your subconscious mind. Before we begin we must first describe exactly what hypnosis is. The term “hypnosis” has more definitions by more people than you could possibly imagine. Hypnosis in my definition is “A state of mind where the conscious mind is put into a very deep state of relaxation and the subconscious mind comes forward and takes control”. It is almost as if the conscious and subconscious minds actually change places with each other.” The term “Positive Suggestion” is really actually hypnosis. Today much is being explored in the field of “Nero linguistic programming”, which actually alters the way the subconscious mind conceives things. Nero Linguistic programming is a science that uses the repetitive suggestions used in hypnosis to bring about positive changes in ones subconscious makeup. The state of hypnosis can be achieved in many different ways. Driving down the road late at night, one often becomes hypnotized to a certain degree by the lines that are painted in the middle of the highway.

3.

Actually all of us become hypnotized every day in our lives to a certain extent. We can become hypnotized when we are watching a good movie or reading a good book. At times our minds become so focused on what we are doing that we tend to block out other things that may be going on around us. Hypnosis is achieved by using words in a powerful persuasive manner. The more descriptive the words can be in creating a situation or certain image within the mind, the more effect it will have on your subconscious mind. Tapping into your subconscious mind and altering it through the use of powerful descriptive wording is the most powerful way you can achieve positive change in your life. All hypnosis is in fact self hypnosis. The hypnotist is just the sounding board, the director and the master of ceremonies so to speak. In order to make any positive changes in your life you must first learn to accept that you want to follow through with what is said. If the positive changes that you wish to make in your life are said to yourself in your own voice, then you will accept them quicker and easier than if they where told to you by some other individual … ie: an other hypnotist. WHAT REALLY HAPPENS DURING HYPNOSIS What happens to your mind during hypnosis? What takes place when someone becomes hypnotized? Is ones mind given up to the hypnotist? Why does a person who is supposedly hypnotized do exactly what the hypnotist says? Is it because they for some reason can not help themselves from doing these things? Is it because it is easier to go along and just do what the hypnotist says? Is it because the hypnotist has made it seem like the best thing to do at that time. None of these questions can be answered with one hundred percent accuracy. Many hypnotists will have many answers to all of the above questions. The truth is that the very existence of the state of hypnosis can not be proven. The existence of hypnosis can not be proven because hypnosis is a state of mind. You can never prove a state of mind in a court of law if someone is really sad, mad or glad because the possibility exists that the individual might just be acting. The point is here that we can not prove if a person is in a hypnotized state or not. Although the existence of hypnosis can not be proven with one hundred percent certainty, those who study it will certainly be convinced of its existence.

4.

I would not want my above comments to be mistaken that I somehow doubt that it exists. There is absolutely no question in my mind that hypnosis is very real and very powerful. Hypnosis and hypnotherapy can be a tremendous aid in helping yourself with whatever it is that you want to change in your life. We are only now just beginning to understand how our minds work. Many advances have been made and the science of NLP and Dr. Harry Alder describes NLP as “The new art and science of getting what you want”. Not everyone has the ability to experience hypnosis in its deepest form, but almost everyone can be hypnotized to a certain extent. There are indeed different depth levels. For therapeutic reasons an extremely deep level of hypnosis is not necessarily that important. As long as your mind is put at ease and a feeling of relaxation is achieved, then the suggestions that you make to yourself will definitely have a profound result on changing your life. Different people experience hypnosis in different ways and different depth levels. After listening to the recordings that you have made…or after listening to one of the tracks with my voice, if you feel that you may not have become hypnotized. Please do not panic. As long as you make sure that you are as relaxed as you can possibly be, then you will be successful. You will indeed be hypnotized to a certain degree, even though you may believe that you have not been. Hypnosis is not some sort of magical or mysterious state of mind. Hypnosis is just a very deep form of relaxation. If you experience any relaxation at all, then the experience will be a positive one for you. THE AUDIO COMPACT DISK The audio CD disk is a very vital and crucial part of this program. Please be sure to keep it somewhere safe for future use. Please feel free to make a copy as long as it’s for your own personal use. File the copy somewhere in a safe place for future use if for some reason your original becomes scratched or damaged. The CD has seven tracks. Track number one should be listened to as soon as possible. The first track explains what hypnosis is and how making your own hypnotic recordings can benefit you tremendously. It explains how easy self hypnosis is to achieve and offers many tips to help you make proper and effective recordings. Track number two, three, four and five are recordings of my own voice for those of you who would prefer to listen to an experienced soothing hypnotic voice, before attempting to record your own. Track number two is all about “Relaxation”.

5.

Track number three will help you “Stop Smoking.” Track number four helps you to control your weight, and track number five deals with overcoming depression. Track number six is one of the most important tracks. It is the actual induction written the first person. The induction is the series of words used for actually achieving a hypnotic state. This is the same induction on page ten called “Main induction”. This is what you will be using each time when you start to make your own recordings. This is the track you want to listen to many times so that your own voice can copy the way that is said. You need to pay very close attention to the speed, the tone and the enunciation of each word. Track number seven is a sample of “The fear of failure”, in the first person and in my voice. It is intended to be listened to and studied carefully, rather than used to induce hypnosis to your self. You need to try to copy the way it is done as closely as possible when recording it in your own voice. The actual procedure to follow in order to make your tapes is very strait forward. First read the introduction part of this book carefully and then read it again several times. Then listen to track number one of the CD. Listen to track number six and number seven several times in order to familiarize your self with the way that your recordings should sound. Obviously everyone will not sound exactly the same because of the makeup of your voice and your accent. This makes no difference as long as it is done in your own voice. This way it is you telling yourself what needs to be done and not someone else. ALL HYPNOSIS IS SELF HYPNOSIS Let us say that you were going to a hypnotist to help yourself stop smoking and the hypnotist was successful in putting you into the state of hypnosis and made the following comment. “From this moment on you will never ever smoke again.” Your subconscious mind will hear what the hypnotist said but the only way that your subconscious mind is going to accept that statement is if it decides that yes indeed “From this moment on I will never ever smoke again.” So you must accept the fact that you have agreed to yourself that you will stop smoking because you want to stop smoking and not because someone else has told you that you need to stop smoking. If smoking is a habit you would like to stop it is likely that your doctor has told you not to smoke. But you are still smoking aren’t you? This technique you are going to learn will help you to reprogram your subconscious mind by making the suggestions yourself rather than hearing it from someone else. When you make the recordings yourself it will be you making the commitment and not someone else.

6.

Once you have made a few recordings, it will be very easy for you to develop others by following the same pattern and adding your own words. All of the scripts provided have been very carefully put together. The words and the way that they are said are very important. It is not recommended that you alter the words in the scripts too much at first. Once you become more familiar with the process of visualization and how to write effective hypnotic scripts, then and only then you might want to make slight changes customizing your script to your own particular situation. At first you may feel that some of the phrases included seem to be filled with far too many descriptive words. This is done deliberately and the more descriptive the words are the clearer the visualization of the situation will be in your mind. In this way the effectiveness of the entire procedure will be greatly improved. The practice of visualization in hypnosis is a very effective procedure used extensively in therapeutic hypnotherapy. Practice what you are going to say and how to say it many times until you are sure that you have it down perfect. When you make your recordings consider having a glass of water or another refreshment close by to help clear and refresh your throat. Your words should be spoken very slowly and very distinctly. You should speak much more slowly than you would speak if you were having a conversation with someone. Reading the script as if you are tired will help. Enunciate all of your words very carefully and as clearly as you possibly can. Don’t worry if you don’t think you have the right voice. If it is your voice then it is the right voice. After all it is you telling yourself the things that you want to do to change your life. All of the scripts start without the actual induction at the beginning. Be sure to start recording each script using the induction on page eight first. You then need to follow it immediately with the rest of the script. When you listen to your recordings you may either be sitting or lying as long as you are comfortable and in a quiet environment.

TEN TIPS FOR MAKING SUCCESSFUL RECORDINGS

1. Practice what you are saying over and over again.

2. After making a recording, listen to it several times and see what you can do to improve it. Re-record it until you are happy with what you’ve recorded.

3. Don’t remove words and phrases from the scripts. They are there for a reason and have been proven to be successful.

4. Remember to relax and breathe deeply and slowly.

5. Add positive statements to the existing scripts that are unique to your individual situation.

6. Use visualization in adding words to the scripts. Create descriptive pictures and settings in your mind by choosing your words very carefully. Try to involve as many of the senses as possible. The sense of sight, the sense of smell, the sense of touch, the sense of hearing and the sense of taste can all be used to help create a more vivid picture for your self.

7. Remember that there is no better hypnotist than you.

8. Write down changes you want to happen in your life so that you can incorporate them in your scripts.

9. Make the changes in your scripts as if the positive changes that you want have already started to happen. IE: “I feel so much better that I am now a non smoker” instead of “I am going to feel so much better when I am a non smoker”. These statements must be in the present tense.

10. Use incense or a scented candle to crate a pleasant smell while you hypnotize yourself.

8. It is very important that you don’t just listen to your recordings only once. You should listen at least once a day for a period of about two weeks. Different people require varying lengths of time for complete success. Once that you have listened enough all of the suggestions will be deeply and permanently implanted into your subconscious mind forever. Everything that you have ever done or seen is stored in your subconscious mind. The statements that are stored repetitively will eventually become a permanent part of your very being. Be sure to listen to track number one several times before attempting to record your own scripts. This first track on the CD goes into much more detail into how to effectively make this program of your own self help hypnosis recordings a much more meaningful and successful positive part of your life. Be sure to make your recordings in a very quiet and comfortable place. I sincerely hope that this book and CD will help you to become a better person and to live a more fulfilled and prosperous life. MAIN INDUCTION I’m just going to sit back, relax and close my eyes. In a very few moments I am going to be more relaxed than I have ever known myself to be. I am going to visualize certain parts of my body. As I do so, I am going to feel those parts begin to relax. I am imagining myself in a wonderfully enchanting forest right now. (Crickets start – Optional.) It’s almost dusk and the sky is such a beautiful deep rich blue colour. I can see the stars above and the moon is shining down on the lush green forest around me. I can smell the beautiful hypnotic scent of the majestic pine trees. Off in the distance I can hear the hypnotic sounds of a babbling brook. (BROOK SOUNDS – OPTIONAL) The crickets seem to just be lulling me to sleep now. I feel so peaceful and relaxed. And as I lie motionless I begin to notice a wonderfully bright white light just above my head. (SOFT MUSIC – OPTIONAL) This light, this brilliant ray of white light is perhaps the most wonderfully peaceful relaxing light that I have ever imagined. As the ray of bright light begins to shine down around the top of my head, I seem to be touched with the desire and willingness to relax deeper and deeper, and even deeper with every breath that I take. I’m going down deeper now. This beautiful pure ray of white light begins to touch my forehead. As it does, I am feeling all the little frown lines, all the little worry lines in my forehead just seem to…. Disappear. My forehead is smoothing out now, and I feel so very relaxed. I feel this warm relaxing ray of light begin to descend down now around my eyes. My eyelids seem to become very very heavy. So heavy that they don’t even seem to want to open. They may flutter a little bit but that’s OK. My eyelids are beginning to feel so heavy now, and as the relaxation descends down now, down upon my face, I feel all the little muscles in my face relaxing deeper now. Deeper, deeper and deeper still. As this wonderful feeling of relaxation comes further down around my mouth, all the hundreds of little muscles around my mouth just begin to relax now, deeper and deeper. My lower jawbone becomes heavy and my teeth part. My mouth may even open up a bit relaxing deeper as it does, deeper, deeper and deeper relaxed now. I feel this relaxation now around my lower jawbone and behind my ears. All the little nerve endings behind my ears just seem to relax deeper and deeper. As I continue to go down deeper, deeper and even deeper. The relaxation goes to the back of my shoulders. But now I feel me shoulders becoming so beautifully wonderfully relaxed. I can feel them drop a little. The relaxation seems to move to my backbone now.

10.

As it goes down the spinal column it seems to move out to the sides, so that every muscle, every nerve and every fiber in my back just seems to relax, deeper and deeper. This relaxation seems to ease into the small of my back now and around the curve of my buttocks, as this warm sense of relaxation flows slowly through the back of my thighs now and all the way down to the hollow of my knees. It moves down around the calves of my legs. Down into my heels and into the bottom of my feet, and each and every toe just relaxes more and more as I go deeper and deeper and even deeper. I am so calm. I am so relaxed. I am so very very peaceful now. Wonderfully relaxed. Now I may want to shift my body slightly, to become even more comfortable and even more and more relaxed. I will do this right now. (Long pause and soft music…. Optional) Now I am going to continue to relax the rest of my entire mind and body. Starting with my throat muscles, I can feel my throat muscles begin to relax deeper and deeper and this relaxation comes down the front of my shoulders, down my upper arms, over my elbows and down into my forearms. This relaxation is moving down into my fingers and my hands. Each and every finger just relaxes more and more as I continue to drift down deeper and deeper into relaxation now. I’m just relaxing deeper now, deeper and deeper still as I continue to relax even more. I can feel the relaxation moving back into my throat muscles, down into my chest, and all the muscles and organs within my chest are just beginning to relax, deeper and deeper. I’m continuing to relax now. This relaxation continues to move all the way down into my stomach, relaxing the entire stomach area. All the muscles and organs within my stomach just seem to relax now, deeper and deeper. This warm sensation of relaxation goes down into my thighs and over my knees. Down into my legs and across the instep of my feet. I feel the relaxation moving down into the rest of my feet themselves. With every passing movement now each and every toe just relaxes more and more as I go deeper and deeper, so very relaxed. I continue drifting down deeper and even deeper now, so calm. so very very relaxed. I am so beautifully peacefully at ease now. (Long pause) Now I am vividly imagining that I am standing in a beautifully enchanted lush green forest. At the base of my feet is a beautiful staircase covered with a beautiful plush red carpet. This staircase leads downward into a very safe and very relaxing warm and peaceful tunnel. This tunnel will lead me into a profound state of deep deep hypnosis. I am going to go down these stairs now and as I count backwards from ten to zero, I will envision myself stepping down one step at a time.

11.

With each step that I take I will drift down deeper and deeper into relaxation now. Until I reach the bottom of the staircase at which point I will be in the deepest state of relaxation that I have every imagined possible. I am standing at the top of the staircase now. Ten… I’m so beautifully relaxed now. I’m stepping down to step number nine now. I’m so wonderfully relaxed. Eight, I’m going down deeper now, Deeper, deeper and deeper. Way down. Seven, I’m so marvelously relaxed, so calm. Six, I am so incredibly at ease. Five, Deeper and deeper down I go. So relaxed…. Four, I am going into a deep state of hypnosis now. Three, I am going down deeper and deeper….. Every nerve and every muscle relaxing more and more. Two, I am so very very deeply relaxed now, feeling very, very calm. One, so beautifully wonderfully relaxed. Zero, I am in a deep state of hypnosis now. More relaxed and peaceful than I have ever known myself to be. (The above script is to be used with each recording that you make. Once you have finished recording this script you will then immediately need to start recording on the same track the individual script that you have decided to select. In other words you would start recording the script for weight loss, stop smoking, fear of failure, or what ever it is you have chosen.)

12.

DEEP RELAXATION I am continuing to relax now deeper and deeper. I am relaxing completely through out every fiber of my body. I am relaxing physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. As I relax so completely now in this fashion concentrating my mind, I let each suggestion take complete and thorough effect to help me relax deeply and automatically. I extend the principles of relaxation and concentration which I am now experiencing into my every day life, into every situation and every circumstance in which I find myself, either alone or with others. I relax and I concentrate my mind automatically no matter what I am doing. I find that every day in every way I relax and concentrate my mind more and more. If I am doing something for fun or relaxation I relax and enjoy it more than ever. I concentrate my mind casually and comfortably. I get more out of what I am doing. If I am doing something that involves work or some serious project or activity, I relax and apply myself more thoroughly and more effectively. I concentrate and do a better job. As I relax of my concentration I evaluate everything thoroughly and completely. I reach decisions easily and readily. I act efficiently and effectively and I build my self confidence, my self reliance, my self acceptance and my self esteem. I become stronger and more capable every day in all situations. As I do this I feel more relaxed and am capable of greater concentration. As I drift down deeper and deeper I am relaxing more and more and I let all of these suggestions seep themselves deeply into my subconscious mind, as I apply these principals in my life, automatically every day in every situation and in every circumstance that I find myself. Whether I am alone or with others I am relaxing more and more. I concentrate more and more sharply and intensely. I reach decisions easily and readily. I act efficiently and effectively. I continually build my self confidence, self reliance, self acceptance and self esteem. I continually find that I am capable of more relaxation and greater concentration and so on in a cycle of progress that grows, that deepens, strengthens and reinforces itself everyday as I grow and become that person that I have always admired and that person that I have always wanted to be. I am self sufficient. All of these suggestions are now implanted deeply, firmly and permanently in the deepest reaches of my subconscious mind. They are a part of my entire being and will be used automatically and make my life more effective, more productive, more useful and happier as I learn to relax more and more. As I learn to concentrate my mind more and more I learn to relax deeper and deeper. I learn to concentrate more and more intensely and more and more completely.

13.

I am drifting on down deeper now. In a moment I am going to awaken myself by counting from one up to five. When I reach the count of five my eyes will open and I will be wide awake and completely out of the hypnotic state. One… I am beginning to awaken. Two…. I am completely and totally relaxed. Three…. I am physically relaxed and mentally alert. Four…. I am exceptionally clear headed. Five….. My eyes are open and I am wide awake feeling fine and feeling wonderful. STOP SMOKING I am continuing now to go down deeper and deeper into relaxation now and I am so calm and so relaxed. I am seeing myself walking down a beautiful country meadow and at the top of the hillside is a wonderfully powerful castle, majestic in every way. As I approach the castle with every breath that I take I see myself climbing up the stairs to a set of powerful wooden doors. There are two powerful wooden doors. As I open the doors to go inside the castle I can notice that the castle is dark and dirty on the inside. Such a shame too, because the outside looks so clean and healthy. As I approach one of the windows in the castle I notice how as I clean the dirt and grime from the window, a ray of sunshine bursts through the window to reveal that the castle is filled with soot and dirt. As I see the dust particles floating in the air, they reflect the rays of the sun and as a result of this I realize how difficult it is to breathe in such filthy environment. Instinctively I begin to clean the inside of my castle, starting first by opening all of the windows and doors to allow that beautiful country air to blow into the castle and purify the chambers inside. I can feel how wonderful it is to be able to breathe healthy air inside the walls of my castle. That’s right I am just allowing the fresh air to come inside the castle. I begin now to clean the windows and walls of the castle. I can see that soot and grime from the walls just break away as I reveal the most wonderfully pink subtle wallpaper. The is a beautiful marble design on the wallpaper that seems to branch off into smaller and smaller veins, each being cleaned thoroughly to reveal the true beauty within. I just keep cleaning those walls. I can see the soot and grime breaking away to reveal that beautiful wallpaper. I am noticing now that the floor is sticky to the touch as I can feel it sticking to the bottom of my shoes. I begin sweeping and mopping the floor of the castle. Sweeping and mopping. Cleaning it out, getting the floor so clean now.

14.

And as I continue mopping the floor I can see the brilliant designs that lie under that dirt. Intricate designs that are so beautiful I want to keep this floor clean forever. I now look around with tremendous pride as I see the benefits of my cleansing. I can feel the benefits of my cleansing and listen to the voices deep within that congratulate me on the cleansing of my castle. Very good. Now as I walk out of my castle to greet the rolling hills and country meadows, I notice how the sun seems a bit brighter, the smells are fresher and the wind is more invigorating. I realize now how beautiful life really is. Now I can feel my heart beating strong and rhythmically. I visualize blood carrying oxygen to every part of my body. My lungs are nice and clean, pink and healthy. This is the most wonderful feeling that I’ve ever experienced. I realize that life is beautiful and I feel wonderful, all because I’ve decided to breathe oxygen over smoke. I realize now that I would not trade my life, my health or my loved ones for a million dollars, and certainly not for a cheap cigarette. All of a sudden, I realize that the desire that I once had for cigarettes has been washed away. In its place is a desire to breathe healthily. I now have a new appreciation for health and vitality. It’s like walking into a brand new world of health, a brand new world of longevity and a brand new world of cleanliness. I love this world so much that I am not about to trade it for a cigarette. In fact I want to hold on to this new world for the rest of my life. I realize now how much better I feel. I can notice my increased level of energy, right now in my body and my increased ability to handle all of my problems with patience and intelligence. I am now placing things in my mind in the proper perspectives. I am putting priorities where they belong. I am doing this for my health and for my pride. It’s a very high priority realizing that I can handle my problems with patience and intelligence. I see myself as a worthwhile intelligent well adjusted person, with many wonderful years ahead of me. I realize now that I can not go into a store and say “I will have a package of cancer please” or perhaps a package of emphysema. I don’t want that and I don’t need that. I realize that’s what is in a cigarette. Instead I want to breathe oxygen, I want to breathe in my health and appreciate life as a nonsmoker. I am a person that wants to take care of my health and enjoy my life. I refuse to trade that in for a lousy cancer stick. I want now to see someone telling me or asking me “Hey have a cigarette” and see how easily I just say “No thank you, I don’t smoke.” What a wonderful feeling comes over me. It is a beautiful feeling of health, a feeling of longevity and a feeling of pride. I am a nonsmoker. I see myself finishing a cup of coffee or some other refreshment or meal, or anything else that used to trigger me to smoke in the past. It just makes me realize how happy I am being a non smoker. I feel so much better. It’s the most wonderful feeling I have ever had.

15.

I am feeling cleanliness in my body, and health and pride. I love each and every day of my life. Now in a moment I am going to give myself some suggestions directly to my subconscious mind and if my conscious wants to listen in that’s O.K. These suggestions will support me into helping me become that nonsmoker that I so strongly desire to be. I am now a nonsmoker. Because I am a nonsmoker I am completely comfortable having my hands rest comfortably at my sides, not doing anything. I am a nonsmoker, and because I am a nonsmoker I am completely comfortable driving down the road simply listening to the radio, with my hands comfortably resting on the steering wheel. Because I am a nonsmoker I now use my ashtray for holding miscellaneous things like change or pieces of paper. That’s what all nonsmokers use their ashtrays for. I am a nonsmoker, and because of that I now desire to increase my intake of fresh water. I know that water assists my body in detoxifying all of its impurities. When the water I drink cools the back of my throat I allow that to serve as a posthypnotic suggestion. This is a suggestion for me to cleanse and purify my body. I am becoming free of any toxins. When I feel that cool water down the back of my throat I allow myself to feel a wonderful sense of pride and ownership in being a nonsmoker. Lastly whenever I desire to snack on something, maybe in between meals, I will increase my desire for fresh fruits and make that my snack of choice. I know that fresh fruit is a wonderful tool to purify my body. Purification of my body is what I desire because I am a nonsmoker, full of life and full of vitality and self-respect. I am now a nonsmoker. I know that when people offer me a cigarette I simply say “No thank you I don’t smoke”. Should I ever have a desire for a cigarette, I can simply count backwards from five to one, and repeat the words, health and vitality five times. Taking in another deep cleansing breath and then feeling comfortable in knowing that I have satisfied what ever urge I have for that cigarette simply by breathing in and repeating health and vitality five times. Now in a moment I am going to awaken myself by counting from one to five. I will only open my eyes as soon as I am willing to accept these suggestions. I am knowing now that they are for my benefit and my ultimate good. One…. I am feeling completely refreshed. Two….. I am excited to fulfill the desires of my new life as a nonsmoker. Three… I am feeling healthy and alive. Four… I am about to enter a new and exciting world, the world as a known smoker. Five…. I am wide awake and alert feeling great and wonderfully refreshed. 16. WEIGHT LOSS I am continuing to relax now, deeper and deeper. I am imagining now a door right in front of me. As I open the door I can see five steps, which lead down into a room filled with dials and gauges all over the walls. As I begin walking down these steps in my mind I can notice that all of the gauges seem to be going on forever and ever. In fact there are so many gauges and dials that I can’t possibly see them all consciously. But as I look at them I notice that they are each labeled individually. One gauge is labeled blood pressure and another labeled body fat. As I gaze among the millions and millions of gauges, I realize that I am in the control room of my own body, and sitting in the middle of this control room is a wondrous book, labeled perfect health. I am going over to this book right now labeled perfect health, and am looking inside. As I turn the pages I begin seeing that each page has a picture of each gauge, and a setting which most closely represents perfect health for me. Because I can not possibly memorize each of these settings consciously, I am beginning to turn the pages and I am visualizing each page rapidly and subconsciously. While my subconscious mind begins to memorize each of these gauges I am imagining myself in front of a mirror. This is a three-way mirror that shows off all of the different angles and which shows off a reflection of the perfect me with the correct size and weight that I want to be. I can see myself in all of the different angles, with all of the curves in just the right places, and my clothes are fitting perfectly against my body. My posture is that of someone who is proud and full of confidence. I realize now that I can handle any situation that I meet and I realize that I have the strength and ability to handle any situation that I am dealt with. As I gaze into the true beauty of my reflections, I can hear my reflection giving off many valuable suggestions. From now on I will chew my food longer and slower and this will allow me to fully enjoy the flavor and the taste of my food much more so than I have ever done before. This enjoyment will fulfill me more than the food. As a result I will eat less food and my cravings for sweets and fatty foods will diminish with every breath that I take. As I am breathing now, I can breathe out all of my cravings for fatty foods. I am breathing out all of these unhealthy desires for food now. I am breathing away all of these bad desires with each breath that I exhale. From this moment on when I sit down to eat a meal, I will gauge my level of hunger on a scale from one to ten. One being starving and ten being so stuffed that I couldn’t possibly imagine eating another bite. From now on I will stop eating at six or seven o’clock. I will learn to be perfectly satisfied with less food. From this moment on I will stop eating when I reach six or seven o’clock knowing that this will allow me to be fulfilled, have plenty of nourishment and walk away feeling nourished and satisfied. From this moment, on a scale from one to ten I will stop eating at the number six or seven. I will now desire to eat a fresh healthy source of vegetables with lunch and dinner. I prefer fresh and healthy, uncooked vegetables, full of life. These foods will assist me in digesting my meals easily, effortlessly, and healthfully. I can now seem to pull enjoyment from fresh foods full of water content, as they become the snack of my choice. Finally when ever I sit down to eat and feel the chair pressing against my backside, I will allow that to signal a post hypnotic suggestion to increase my metabolism to a safe and moderate level most effective for digesting my meals. As my reflection of the perfect me gives me these suggestions, I can notice now that my reflection is reaching out to touch my hands, and as my hands come into contact, I can feel an unconditional source of love from my unconscious suggestions. As I feel this infinite source of love and self worth pouring into my heart, it is this love and support from myself that will allow me to have the discipline necessary say No to unhealthy foods and Yes to healthy foods, saying yes to life. I step forward into my reflection now, as I become my reflection. I can feel how wonderful it feels to become my reflection. I step out of the mirror now, and into a new life of health and vitality, I can see myself back in my control room of perfect health, finishing the chapters of my book for perfect health. I begin adjusting the dials now, at an infinitely rapid pace to resemble the gauges of my book of perfect health, knowing that I can do this unconsciously and also knowing that some of these gauges will need to be adjusted several times before I can achieve perfect health. I am allowing myself now to crate safe moderate adjustments at a pace that I can live with. As these dials begin adjusting at my subconscious level, I begin to focus my attention on the sensations within my body that are beginning to happen. I can feel the sensations within my body as this signifies to my subconscious mind that the gauges are being adjusted right now as my first step towards perfect health, the perfect weight that I wish to be. As my body begins to move towards perfect health and achieving my desired weight, I am going to count from one to five and as I do I will awaken twenty percent with each number, and with every number I will secure these suggestions deep into my subconscious mind. One…. I am visualizing myself the size and shape that I want to be and desire to be. Two…. I am feeling wonderful about myself finally knowing that I am in control. Three…. Desiring healthy foods that assist me in weighing my ideal weight. Four…. Ready now to do what ever is necessary to achieve this necessary goal. Five…. My eyes open and I am wide awake. I am bright and alert now, wide awake, Bright and alert.

DEVELOPING YOUR PSYCHIC ABILITY I am going down deeper and deeper now as I begin to realize some basic laws about my inherent psychic abilities of telepathy, clairvoyance and precognition. I know that telepathy is the most fundamentally basic psychic power that I possess. These powers of telepathy that I have involve receiving and correctly interpreting other people’s thoughts as well as transmitting other people’s thoughts with clarity and intensity. My powers of clairvoyance will allow me to see clearly, something as a distance that the naked eye can not perceive. My powers of precognition will allow me to predict the future. I know that all forms of psychic ability, telepathy, precognition and clairvoyance are greatly enhanced and refined when I am in a very relaxed and concentrated frame of mind. In order to help me obtain this peaceful relaxed state of mind, I am going to teach myself a very powerful and very simple technique, which I can use whenever I wish to employ my inherent psychic abilities. I am making myself very comfortable as I close my eyes now and take a deep breath of air, and exhale. I can picture and imagine deep within my mind, a time when I was very calm, more peacefully and more deeply relaxed than I have ever been before. My mind is drifting back now to this peaceful relaxing time and I am becoming more relaxed with every breath I take. I am hearing my voice clearly and precisely, so deeply deeply relaxed. I am beginning to say to myself five times, the word “concentrate”. I take another deep breath, exhale and begin using my inherent psychic abilities in whatever form I wish to use them. Each and every time I do this I am finding that my psychic abilities are becoming more and more acute. My perceptions are enhanced and I find myself using a very powerful technique called visualization. For instance, when I want to use telepathy I just close my eyes and I become very relaxed, putting myself in a very concentrated form of mind. Then I form an image within my mind, a very distant image of that person to which I wish to transmit my thoughts. Then I repeat to myself over and over, the phrase, the thought, or the emotions that I wish to transmit to that person. I can actually feel, see and hear myself doing this. I can actually see, feel and hear that person receiving these thoughts. When attempting to use the psychic abilities of clairvoyance I again attain a perfect state of relaxation. I visualize a picture of a person to whom I wish to clairvoyantly perceive. I concentrate intensely on this picture. I project an exact image of that face onto an imaginary video screen within my mind, a sort of psychic television. I can maintain this image for approximately thirty seconds. I relax and watch what happens. I find that my face gradually comes to life,

18.

with a slight gesture, a change of expression. Soon afterwards this image begins to melt away and a moment later an entire scene will unfold before me. I will actually see that person carrying out his or her daily affairs. I will be seeing this clairvoyantly. In attempting to use this psychic ability of precognition, I use precognitive awareness, which refers to a specific state of mind in which my intuition is allowed to operate without restraint. To obtain precognitive awareness I must first become acutely sensitive to intuitive impulses produced by the psychic regions of my brain. I will practice this exercise late in the afternoon or the evening. I relax in a quiet room in my home. I blank my mind then I make myself perfectly comfortable and relaxed. I am visualizing an exact date into the future. I am visualizing the date in bold letters for approximately five seconds. I think of absolutely nothing but mentally transporting myself to that point in the future. After a few minutes I may experience a slight dizziness or a ringing in my ears. This should cause me no need for alarm. I simply maintain my concentration. At the conclusion of five minutes with my eyes still closed, I allow that date, that image to slowly vanish from my mind. For the next few moments I will be suspended in darkened soundless void. (Pause) Moments later however my mind remains completely blank. Peculiar feelings start registering in my brain. When this starts to happen I turn my thoughts to a prominent personality in present times, or an event which may happen. I am finding that a strong feeling starts to overcome me concerning these particular situations or events. I am finding that I am now intuitively experiencing the fate, which awaits that particular person or event. Each and every day, in every conceivable way my psychic abilities are improving. Each and every day, in every conceivable way I am becoming more and more attuned to my own psychic abilities. As I practice my relaxation and my concentration, I am becoming more and more attuned every day to the psychic energies and vibrations around me. I am becoming the person that I want to be, deserve to be and will be. Now in a moment I am going to awaken myself by counting from one to five. When I reach the count of five, my eyes will be open and I will be wide awake and completely out of my hypnotic trance, with a marvelous feeling of well being, feeling wonderful in every conceivable way. One…. I am beginning to awaken. Two…. I am completely and totally refreshed. Three…. I am physically, mentally and psychologically alert. Four…. I am exceptionally clear headed. Five…. My eyes are open now and I am wide awake feeling fine and wonderful. Wide awake.

OVERCOMING DEPRESSION As I continue to drift on down now deeper and deeper to sleep, so calm and comfortable, and so very relaxed, I am beginning to recognize that depression is a signal to me that my life is somehow out of balance. The challenge to me now is finding the source of the signal. The chief danger of depression is that it can immobilize me. To overcome this I am now recognizing depression as and opportunity to learn, to grow and to heal. It is alright to feel the pain that it brings to me. From now on I am going to let that pain alert me to the real problem. Depression can be the motivating force to revive my life. I need to reason with myself now. I need to ask myself now if my depression is a wise and necessary withdrawal. Have I pushed myself into too much striving and stimulation? Have I at times spent too much time in certain activities? Activities that where not sufficiently nourishing to me, and activities that were just not exactly what I need and deserve. From this moment on I firmly resolve that I am going to from time to time reassess my life and make sound decisions on what I really value in my life. I realize that sometimes depression is caused by the loss of a relationship, or a personal defeat that stirs up old or bad feelings about myself that go far deeper than the immediate situation. If my depression hangs on I will resolve to explore if I might be living my life with an old trauma in which I disliked myself. This can be my chance to face that buried hurt and build a stronger self. If I discover that some error that I have committed, or some dissatisfaction with something that I have done causes my depression, I now vow to avoid such self blame. Self blame is worse than the error that I regret. I admit to myself the guilt that I am feeling. I realize that everyone makes mistakes. I know that I can learn a lot from my mistakes. I know now not to repeat the same mistakes again. Sometimes I can gain relief from a trapped immobile state, by expressing my feelings of guilt or anger, but I will always remember to direct anger at the appropriate target. If I blame the wrong person or circumstances I then actually feel guilty, even guiltier, and even more depressed. I now firmly resolve to ask myself whether I am harboring secret resentments. I know that depression can be caused by bottled up anger that I sometimes feel towards people that I am supposed to love. We supposedly solve the problem of having unacceptable anger by turning it in. So I now resolve to allow myself to feel and experience anger. I can express it out loud to myself. I might even indulge in angry fantasies and if I can find safe and constructive ways to express my anger, then I will do so. If I can’t then I will do it in my imagination. As each and every day passes I am recognizing that I am not helpless to do or change anything I wish, to whatever I want.

20.

What ever I do does make a difference in my life and to the lives of others. I do things to remind myself that I can affect my environment. I might volunteer my time to help people that are worse off than I might be, or maybe finish a household task that I have been avoiding. I might even plunge back into a hobby or a craft that I have neglected for so long. I might even reach out to old or new friends. I also resolve to undertake tasks that I can do to my own satisfaction easily. I do things that give me a sense of accomplishment without requiring too much mental or physical skill. I reward myself for what I do. I congratulate myself for finishing any project without telling myself how much better it might have been done. I also resolve to take better care of myself. I concentrate on the positive things that I do or happen to do every day. I pay special attention to my appearance. Looking good and attracting a compliment or two will help me relieve depressed feelings. Whenever I am feeling low I will treat myself to something out of the ordinary that I really enjoy. I might play hooky and take myself out to a movie, or even take an unplanned vacation. Anything that I can do to help restore my balance and renew my energy, I will attempt to do. So I am imagining right now all of the depression in my body just beginning to drain away now, as if I had sprockets in my toes just opening up and pouring out all of that depression, all of that sadness and all of that hurt. I know that I deserve to release it. I have held it in for way too long. I allow all of this depression, sadness and hurt to drain right out of my body now. I am feeling so much better, so much more content with myself. I am allowing this depression, tension, sadness and hurt to go up now, all the way up and out of my body. My head and heart are healing now. My abdomen and my legs are becoming completely clear and I am filling up now with joy and peace. I am replacing all of those confused feelings with most importantly a decision, one simple decision. A decision to be happy, a decision to get away from my self pity and a decision to say I am worth being happy for. My life is so much more enjoyable with a smile. Each and every day in every conceivable way I believe more and more in my own worth. I am making my own decisions rather than possibly waiting for other people or outside events to make them for me. I do what ever it is that I want to do and whatever I really enjoy doing. I will do what I want to do for others but will avoid being pushed into doing something that I don’t really want to do, unless doing this would make my life better somehow. I don’t unquestionably put every body elses needs first. I know that my needs count too, and my needs should usually come first. I am also now beginning to recognize those things that can not change and I work at ignoring unavoidable irritation.

21.

If I really can’t leave a situation that I dislike I resolve to commit myself to coping with its problems in order to keep my dissatisfaction from leading to recurrent depression. Day by day in every way I am becoming increasingly more successful at feeding positive happy thoughts into my mind, based off of that one decision. As each day passes I find myself making definite attempts to become vitally absorbed in some person or thing outside myself. I understand that in order to live a happy and fulfilling life that I need to have a purpose. I will be able to find a purpose for myself. Because of this, every day I am feeling more and more independent and more and more able to stick up for myself. Every day I am feeling greater feelings of personal well being. These feeling are greater than they have ever been before. I now realize the feeling of personal safety and security that I have felt for such a long long time. All of these things that I am about to tell myself will begin as soon as I awaken and open my eyes. From this moment on I begin to feel much happier, much more content and much more optimistic, much more self confident and much more self assured. These feelings continue to grow stronger with each and every passing day. Now in a moment I am going to awaken and I will do so by counting from one to five. When I reach the count of five, I will open my eyes, but I will open them only when I have firmly resolved to accept these suggestions and make that conscious decision to enjoy my life. I am no longer feeling sorry for myself or feeling depressed at all. Instead I have decided to be happy. I take life’s sorrows in stride. I have decided to enjoy the rest of my life. One…. I am beginning to awaken. Two…. I am feeling so completely and totally refreshed. Three I am physically and mentally alert. Four…. I am exceptionally clear headed. Five…. My eyes are open now and I am wide awake and feeling fine.

22.

DEVELOPING ENTHUSIASM I am continuing now to go down now even deeper and deeper, more and more relaxed. It was Ralph Waldo Emerson who once said that “Nothing good was ever accomplished without enthusiasm.” No individual has ever accomplished a great feat without being enthusiastic about it while he or she was accomplishing it. No one has ever acquired an amazing amount of knowledge without being enthusiastic about doing so, and all great sales people have one thing in common. That one thing is enthusiasm for their product. To acquire any skill at all, to be proficient in any art, to do any thing worthwhile, one must be enthusiastic. Enthusiasm makes anything and everything easier to accomplish. The fortunate individuals who achieve the most in life are invariably activated by enthusiasm. Those who do the most with their lives take advantage of life’s opportunities and its problems, even in its rough movements with a confident attitude and an enthusiastic point of view. Recognizing now, how important enthusiasm is, I realize that I can deliberately make myself enthusiastic. I can actually even go further and develop a quality so meaningful and in such depth that it will not decline or run dry, no matter what strain has been put on me. It has been said that the true genius for living is to carry the spirit of the child into old age. What is the spirit of the child? Being wide eyed and open, experiencing the wonder, excitement and the zest for life. It is optimistic attitude that nothing is too good to be true, that the world is really a wonderful and exciting place. More and more with each and every passing day, I find myself cultivating this very same child like enthusiasm of excitement and wonder. I am beginning to realize now how very important this thing called enthusiasm really is. The factor that keeps enthusiasm perking is an irresistible goal and fascinating objective, a consuming desire that dominates, motivates and refuses to let go of me. I am finding such a goal for myself, a goal that gives my life a meaning and a purpose. I am setting up for myself goals that I know I must reach and goals that I know I can reach. Under this goal I am building the fire of anticipation and I am keeping that fire burning. To overcome negative and defeatists attitudes and to make the most of each and every day, I will find myself taking some very specific definite and positive steps. I find myself each and every day carefully practicing and listing to myself. I am beginning to note and study with meticulous attention, every comment that I make, so that I become fully conscious of the amazing number of positive statements and remarks that I will constantly be making.

23.

I am also being absolutely honest so that when I hear myself making a negative statement I will ask myself, “Do I honestly believe what I am saying or am I just making negative suggestions that I don’t really believe in at all.” I am also adopting the practice of making positive supportive remarks and I am nothing how much better the new suggestions sound. As I continue to take these steps now I find it growing more and more exciting to hear the words and ideas that are full of life and expectancy coming from my mouth, instead of the old defeatists remarks that I once used to say. I am discovering that something really exciting is beginning to happen. I am experiencing an upsurge of dynamic wonderful enthusiasm. I am also resolving to keep track of everything that is happening as I work with these new procedures. I am carefully noting and computing the smallest results. If I have previously been in the habit of saying “Things are not going to be good today”, I now note that things where at one time, much better and things will continue to get better. I am able to admit honestly that I had expected them to go well, but now I no longer am afraid to expect the best. I want the best, I expect the best, deserve the best, and I will get the best. I am now picturing and imagining that I am in a situation where I used to react with profound disinterest, perhaps even with pessimism and gloom. I am picturing and imagining now myself reacting with an abundance of happiness, excitement and enthusiasm. I am noticing now how this enthusiasm seems to fill me with feelings of confidence, hope and expectations for a new and better life. This is something that I would never trade back for my old pessimism and gloom. I feel now an enormous surge of power, and new and tremendous motivation, and an abundance and abounding joy and enthusiasm which is extending to all areas of my life, personal , professional, an and social. This surge of power will help me become that person I want to be, deserve to be and will be. I will accept these suggestions knowing that they are for my own good and for my own benefit. Now in a moment I am going to awaken and on the count of five my eyes will open and I will be bright and alert. I will be filled with enthusiasm for the day, for the week and maybe even for the month or the year. Wouldn’t it be nice and I can imagine now the happiness that I would experience when I allow these suggestions to carry me through the rest of my life? One…. I am beginning to waken. Two…. I am completely and totally refreshed and so alive. Three…. I am physically and mentally alert. Four…. I am exceptionally clear headed. Five…. My eyes are open and I am feeling fine, wonderful and full of enthusiasm. Wide awake.

24.

ELIMINATING ANGER I am continuing to drift on down now deeper and deeper, so calm, so comfortable and so very very relaxed. I am going to present some suggestions to my subconscious mind right now. Suggestions which I will find acceptable, reasonable and in my best interest. I am realizing now that anger is the most destructive of all of the emotions, because it lies hidden, unrecognized. I sometimes get angry with myself when I am feeling guilt. When I feel hatred I am angry at the object of the hatred. In self-pity I am sometimes angry at the situations or people who frustrate me. Anger may be hidden within me but often it creates evil and insidious ways in its many disguises. Expressed or suppressed it accounts for most of my misery. Now I am not going to say that I should be so emotionally mature that I should completely free myself of anger. But minimizing it can help me lead a much happier life. When ever I succeed in shaking off the constraints of hostility, my anger is replaced with pity and possibly even amusement. At the emotional innocence of those who take hostile thrusts at me, anger can cause a great amount of unhappiness and it can actually cause many forms of illness. When I am angry my brain is inhibited and therefore I am reduced to something less than my whole human potential. So I am going to imagine right now that all that anger that has been trapped and stored within my body is now, just draining away. It’s draining out of my body. It’s almost as if I have just opened up some sprockets in my toes, and all the anger and tension is just beginning to release it self now, releasing itself out of my body. All of the anger from my body is just flowing out of the sprockets in my toes, Feeling it drain now out of my head all the way down past my throat, right out of my shoulders and I feel my shoulder drooping with relaxation now. I’m allowing that anger to continue to drain right out of my fingers now all the way down past my chest and stomach. It’s trailing down now below my lower abdomen and down into my thighs. It’s moving down now further into my knees and into my calves, and this anger, each and every bit of this anger is just draining right out of my body. I can sense a big bright ray of light shining down on the top of my head now. It is a wonderful white light filled with love, peace and patience as it enters my head. I can feel it filling up my entire body all the way down into my toes, and as I experience this in my mind I am beginning to find myself at peace with the world and at peace with myself. I want to live happily and harmoniously with other people and enjoy good health, physically and emotionally. I am now finding that I have a feeling of peace and tolerance towards everyone. I like people and people like me.

25.

I realize that each personality is a product of heredity and experience. I now know that if I had been born with someone elses body and had gone through the same experiences in the exact same order as they did, I probably would be the same as them. Therefore I accept others as they are with all of their imperfections. When they do things that I disapprove of the only emotions that I feel will be sympathy and understanding. I am in complete control at all times, even under what others believe to be stressful and trying and viscous. This gives me a feeling of great satisfaction. I feel and express only the good healthful emotions of love, sympathy and tolerance towards others. I love other people for their good qualities and I forgive them for the acts that I disapprove of. I know that they are doing what anyone else would do with their same body, experience and levels of awareness. I am a friendly and loving person. I have a kind word and warm smile for everyone. For this reason I am well liked, loved and admired. I accept others as they are and I know that my present disposition often starts a chain reaction. It creates a pleasant feeling in others, being kind, generous caring and at times loving. It helps create a better person for the one I am being kind to. This makes me feel very good. Others like and admire me for my understanding and forgiving nature. I am happy because I know that the key to happiness is love and understanding, tolerance and sympathy. I harbor these beneficial emotions and reject all others. I am a better more admirable person for my ability to smile at those who are angry and I find it easy to think clearly and chose the proper words because I am serene and relaxed. I now sympathize with others for their bad qualities and I love them for their good qualities. I am in complete control of my emotions and only the good and healthy ones are present in my mind. These healthy emotions feed back into my daily living. They keep me happy and content. I enjoy being tolerant, understanding and forgiving. I now forgive everyone for anything that they have ever done. I like people and I like myself because I am a tolerant and good person, sympathetic and understanding. I now find myself more relaxed and comfortable around other people because of my loving attitude. I like people and I understand people. My subconscious mind absorbs all of these ideas and feeds them back into my daily living. My subconscious mind is where the emotions reside. It guides me into selecting good healthy responses. I am a friendly warm loving person. I accept others as they are and I am in complete control of my emotions at all times. I radiate the good healthy emotions and reject all others. I am experiencing personal growth with each and every passing day.

26.

Now in a moment I am going to awaken by counting from one to five. As I do I will begin to gradually awaken with each number that I count. When I reach five, I will be fully awake. I will open my eyes only as soon as I am willing to accept these suggestions, knowing that they are good for me, for other people and for the planet. One…. I am beginning to awaken. Two…. I am completely and totally refreshed. Three…. I am physically and mentally alert. Four…. I am exceptionally clear headed and Five…. my eyes are open and I am wide awake feeling wonderful. Wide awake. EXERCISE I am continuing to drift on down now, so calm and so comfortable, so very very relaxed. I am going to present some suggestions to my subconscious mind. These suggestions I find reasonable, acceptable, and in my best interest. Everyday at a specific time of my choice I will have the feeling that I must engage in some activity. I will have the urge to do the exercises that I need to do. I feel so good when I exercise no matter what that exercise might be. I feel myself breathing deeply as I exercise. I breathe from my diaphragm. I begin to exercise briskly. I find that it’s fun to exercise, I feel so good when I start exercising. I find myself stretching. My body automatically becomes erect and limber and I exercise freely and easily. Each and every moment that I exercise makes me feel more vigorous. Each and every moment that I exercise makes me enjoy even more the sense of well being through out my entire body. I breathe deeply and I enjoy the movement of my exercise. I enjoy the sheer feeling of being alive. I exercise in this way for however long I wish to. I enjoy each and every moment of this exercise. When I have completed my exercise for the day it is perhaps with a faint sense of regret that I realize my exercise session is over. Tomorrow or the next day I’ll exercise a little more so that I can have even more enjoyment. When my exercise is over I will feel completely refreshed, emotionally serene, calm and self confident, mentally alert and ready to do whatever comes next. Every day my joy in the strength and co-ordination of my body increases. To move is to be alive and to be alive is fun. Everyday I get more fun out of life. Everyday is better than the day before. I picture now and imagine myself performing the exercise of my choice at the place of my choice. I notice how I move naturally and gracefully making all the movements energetically with speed, flexibility and vitality. I feel the blood rushing through my veins, bringing healthy life sustaining oxygen to all of my vital parts.

27.

Each and every moment of exercise makes me feel even more vigorous. Each and every moment that I exercise makes me more determined to obtain and then maintain a state of physical and mental health and well being that I so want and deserve. I thoroughly enjoy each and every moment of exercise and I eagerly look forward to it each and every day. It always leaves me feeling completely refreshed and emotionally serene, self confident and mentally alert. I am ready to do what ever comes next. Each and every day my joy, strength and coordination of my body increases. Each and every day I am more and more motivated to do the exercises that I know I should be doing. These feelings begin to row with each and every passing day in every conceivable way to help me become and remain the person that I want I want to be and deserve to be. All of these suggestions are planted deeply now, deeply and permanently within my subconscious mind. My subconscious mind automatically accepts, retains and acts upon all of these suggestions which helps motivate me to perform my exercises each and every day. I am now breathing deeper and deeper. I am going to awaken myself by counting from one to five. When I reach the count of five my eyes will be open. I will be wide awake and completely out of the hypnotic state with a marvelous feeling of well being and feeling fine and wonderful in every conceivable way. One…. I am beginning to awaken, vital and refreshed. Two…. I am completely and totally refreshed. Three…. I am physically and mentally alert. Four…. I am exceptionally clear headed. Five…. My eyes are open now. I am wide awake, wonderfully refreshed and feeling great.

28.

FEAR OF CROWDS I am continuing to relax now deeper and deeper. I understand now that no outside force is making me fear crowds. My body is simply responding to the way I am thinking. I am learning now to cope with my nervous symptoms as well as with the situations that I fear. Remembering the panic is a state of physical shock. Blood vessels may dilate or constrict drastically. My brain may be deprived of blood and faintness may result, but I realize that my body is functioning normally in the circumstances of fear and tension that I am creating for it. Nervous symptoms will cease to exist only when their existence no longer matters to me. So I find myself now replacing any fear and panic that I fear in crowds with emotions of peace, comfort and tranquility. To help me conquer this I am now going to teach myself a very simple but powerful technique. Whenever I find myself in a crowd, I will close my eyes for a moment and take a deep breath. As I exhale I will picture myself as calm, peaceful and deeply relaxed as I am right now. To reinforce this I will say or think to myself five times the word “relax”, Then I will take another deep breath, exhale and open my eyes and go back to what I was doing. As I do this I immediately begin to relax. All stress tension and anxiety just fades away. I find myself feeling calm, comfortable and relaxed. I am now picturing and imagining to myself that I am in the middle of a cobblestone village square which is filled with tables and carts. These carts are filled with all sorts of fruits, vegetables, meats and fish. The square is filled with people. But in the midst of this crowd I feel perfectly calm, comfortable and relaxed. I can hear the cries of the vendors as they hock their wares. I hear the voices of the shoppers as they gaily chatter away. Off in the distance I can hear the soft chimes of a clock. It chimes once, twice, and a third time, and a fourth time and now a fifth. It is five o’clock in the afternoon and as I walk among the carts, the tables and the crowds I am feeling very calm comfortable and relaxed. I feel the sun warming upon me now. But I am not uncomfortable because a delightful breeze fills the square having traveled down from the tall mountains far off in the distance. I look out at the mountains looming tall up against the bright blue sky. I feel the cobblestones beneath my feet. The cobblestones are worn smooth from centuries of use. From the cart off to the left, the delicious aroma of freshly brewed coffee greets my nostrils. As I walk on off to my right I can smell the smoky smell of meat being barbecued on wooden squires over searing white hot coals. Now the sun begins to set, going down behind the mountains. Its rays fill the sky and gold purple crimson and scarlet hues.

29.

I continue to walk among the tables and the carts, sometimes stopping to sample the wares now. It’s growing darker and darker now. Soon the square is lit with lanterns hanging suspended by ropes and wires. Over head a huge golden moon fills the tranquil sky. It arises from behind the mountains where only a short time before the sun went down. The night is warm and comfortable as I walk on feeling so relaxed. The shimmering light guides me from the lanterns now rustling ever so slightly in the warm breeze. I am aware of the cries of the vendors, the voices of the crowds, all of the delicious tempting aromas that fill that night air. I am enjoying myself so very very much. As I walk on I come upon a cart that is filled with beautiful fresh ripe oranges. The scent of oranges is very strong. As I smell the oranges I decide that I would like one. So I pick one out and I pay the vendor. I stick my fingernail into the rough skin to pierce it so that I may peel the orange. As I do, the sweet juice spurts out spraying onto my hand and I can feel it as I peel the orange and then bite into it. The sweet orange juice squirts into my mouth and it runs down my throat. I can taste the orange flavor. I continue to walk on now amongst the crowd. I am still remaining calm and comfortable and so relaxed. I am beginning to feel tired now. Off to the side of the square I see a bench. I make my way through the crowd and I reach the bench and sit down. I can feel the hard boards of the bench beneath me. It feels so good to just rest and relax. I close my eyes now and just let myself drift away. The sounds and the smells of the square and the crowd fill me with peace and contentment. Now the scene begins to fade, and I am still deep in the hypnotic state. I will return to this time and this place in my mind whenever I feel the need to do so. Each and every day in every conceivable way I find myself feeling more and more calm, comfortable and relaxed. I am feeling peaceful and serene and so tranquil whenever I find myself in a crowd. I am overcoming each and every day any anxiety or tension that I ever felt when in a crowed. I am replacing those feelings with feelings of peace, joy, confidence, enjoyment and relaxation. Now in a moment I am going to awaken myself by counting from one up to five. When I reach the count of five my eyes will open, but only as soon as I am willing to accept these suggestions. One…. I am beginning to awaken. Two…. I am completely and totally refreshed. Three…. I am physically refreshed and mentally alert. Four I am exceptionally clear headed and five…. I am wide awake, feeling fine and feeling wonderful.

30.

FEAR OF FAILURE I am continuing to go down now, deeper and deeper into hypnosis, so calm and so relaxed. I am realizing that the same success obsessed social environment that encouraged competitiveness and perfectionism makes fear of failure seem like a natural part of my life, but it doesn’t have to be that way. I don’t have to accept the pressure to succeed as an appropriate way to feel. I am now learning to allow myself to fail, and I now see that the problem is not failing, but the inability to accept failing as a part of my life. But it doesn’t have to be that way. I don’t have to accept the pressure to succeed as an appropriate way to feel. I am now learning to allow myself to fail, and I now see that the problem is not failing, but the inability to accept failing as a part of my life. I am recognizing now that I am beginning to set appropriate goals for myself. Are my standards the right ones for my life? or are they really my standards at all? If I am trying to do too much I have good reason to fear failure. I resolve now to give myself a chance to grow and develop ability. I don’t want to take on excessive tasks or aim for unreachable achievements. I go step by step. I also look for the opposite manifestation of fear of failure, which is setting my standards so low that I can’t fail. I give myself a chance to improve, trying something new, something a little harder than what I have done before, and thereby I allow myself positive learning experiences. I am also keeping myself in constant touch with what makes me feel good about myself. I savor the entire small pleasures and successes that come my way. I am recognizing all of the ways that I naturally succeed in living a satisfying life. Even in humble and inconspicuous ways I’ve done the best so far, in what I know about my life. I realize now that I am more than just what I do or what I make. I am so much more than just the money I own, the trips that I take, the clothes that I wear, the friends that I have, or the processions that I accumulate. I am a growing person who can learn from all of the experiences of my life, even the unpleasant ones. I am accepting failure now as a normal part of my life. Failure is something that is bound to happen once in a while, but something that I can now easily just shrug off and begin to move on with my life. I view failure as a part of a process of exploring my world, making note of its lessons and then moving on. Often times the lessons of a past failure make possible future successes. I realize now that I learn from my past mistakes. Every time I make a mistake I am that much closer to doing it right the next time. I no longer over rate the value of worldly success. I do not let the pursuit of success replace more important goals, such as developing loving and supportive personal relationships.

31.

I am gradually improving my skills and my abilities, learning to try new things and therefore risk possible failure. I resolve not to repeat a worn out formula that through success in the past, because that can lead to stagnation and eventual failure in the future. Every day in every conceivable way I am freeing myself from the enslaving myth that I have to be the best to be acceptable to others and myself. It is not true that anything less than perfection is a failure. I ask myself what would happen if I did something for the pure joy of doing it, not just to be the best. I am learning to play. I provide myself with stimulating but uncompetitive experiences. I am now discovering the delight of exploring and trying new things. I take risks, small ones at first and then I soon learn that there is nothing to fear. Change and discovery can be energizing if I free myself from the fear that any change brings and added risk of failure. I also accept the possibility of failure as a part of the human condition. I have the human right to make mistakes. Wins and losses are both temporary. My value as a person does not rest on the success of any one thing. Failing on a task does not mean that I have to fail as a person. I am also recognizing what I get when I succeed and what I loose when I fail. I notice that failure does not always cut off the opportunity to try again. I am now picturing and imagining myself in a venture in which I have failed in the past, or in a venture that I am going to try in the future. I am imagining now myself failing. Yes I am imagining myself failing. I just pause now and think in silence…. Thinking of failing (10 sec. pause) I am now imagining the absolute worst possible thing that could happen. (10 sec. pause) I am imagining myself getting over that terrible thing that just happened. Moving on and looking forward to trying again. As I move on I can hear and feel myself succeeding beyond my wildest dreams and expectations. I pause, and I think of this situation now. (10 sec. pause) And now with each and every passing day, I resolve to stop keeping score on myself. I no longer dwell on the discrepancy between my achievements and my goals. I am realizing now that the only constant in life is change, and I now resolve to ride on life’s ups and downs. I realize now that periodic failures don’t make me a failure. I am a successful person, and being human I will sometimes make mistakes. These are mistakes that I can learn from and mistakes that will help me succeed beyond my wildest dreams. In a moment I am going to awaken myself by counting from one to five. When I reach the count of five my eyes will open and I will be wide awake and completely out of the hypnotic state. I will awaken with a marvelous feeling of well being.

32.

Feeling fine… feeling wonderful in every conceivable way. I am willing to attempt new tasks in my life. One…. I am beginning to awaken. Two…. I am completely and totally revived. Three…. I am physically and mentally alert. Four… I am exceptionally clear headed. Five…. My eyes are open, wide awake feeling fine and feeling wonderful. FEAR OF FLYING I am relaxing now, deeper, deeper, and deeper, so beautifully and wonderfully relaxed. I am going to offer some suggestions to my subconscious mind now. These suggestions I will accept knowing that they are good and healthy for me. Extreme fears and phobias such as fear of flying consist of three elements. Emotions … The way that I feel, Perception’s… The way that I think and Behaviors… The way that I act. Overcoming emotional obstacles is very important to me. I realize that I am always in complete and total control. Any adverse reaction that I may have to a particular situation is of my own choosing. I can accelerate such reactions that lead to feelings of increased fright and eventual panic, or I can decelerate them, which leads to feeling better and feelings of greater control and calmness. It is important to realize that I am always in complete and total control of what I want. I can achieve this control of my fear of flying and replace all adverse panic reactions with reactions of calm and peacefulness. Whenever I find myself in a situation, perhaps as I am sitting in an airplane and preparing to fly, I am going to place myself in a state of hypnosis and just sit back and relax. I will close my eyes and take a deep breath of air. As I exhale I will picture myself calm, peaceful and deeply relaxed, just like I am now. To reinforce the relaxation, I say or think to myself five times, the word “RELAX”, then I take another deep breath and exhale. I then open my eyes and carry on as I normally would. As I do this I immediately begin to relax. All restlessness and anxiety just totally leaves me. I find myself totally calm, collected, cool and tranquil. All of those situations that previously elicited anxiety just seem to disappear. I know I can overcome ridiculous self created obstacles. Many people worry themselves needlessly, with such thoughts as, what if a wing falls off, or what if an engine fails. These types of catastrophic thoughts are actually voluntary and self taught. I do have a choice and I can actively continue saying such statements to myself which lead to increased physical discomfort and avoidance, or I can choose to combat and stop them, which leads to peace of mind and the enjoyment of flying.

33.

Whenever I find myself in a situation when I might be tempted to think those negative thoughts, I will from now on constantly replace them with feelings of calm and peaceful positive affirmations. I counter every fear arousing negative perception with an alternative positive statement. For example if I am tempted to say, “I hate flying”, that now becomes, “I enjoy flying”. Instead of thinking that the plane may crash I resolve to myself that the flight will be a safe one. I perceive in this with repetition. I must also overcome behavior obstacles. I am realizing now, that the longer I avoid flying the more severe my phobia will become. Whenever I find myself in a fearful situation; I will remain calm, no matter how bad I feel initially. I do eventually become calm and overcome my fears. I am now imagining myself preparing for a flight, and I notice how good I feel. I am looking forward to this trip very much. I am looking forward to this trip knowing that I am going to have a good time on the flight and an even better time when I arrive at my destination. I am picturing and imagining myself arriving at the airport, and going through the ticket counter. I am now boarding the plane and continuing to feel very calm, peaceful, relaxed and tranquil, with just a hint of excitement. It is much like when I was a child waiting for a present. I am looking forward to my flight with anticipation. I know that I am going to enjoy it. I realize that in all circumstances I am in complete and total control. I realize that I am not the victim of mysterious and uncontrollable forces. I picture and imagine myself now getting ready for takeoff. Perhaps I do feel a little queasy. I practice my relaxation procedures that I have just taught myself to do, and this immediately makes me feel calm, comfortable and relaxed. As the flight is in progress now and as I am curious, I examine my surroundings and if I like, I can even get up and walk around. If I do hear a strange noise or experience an unfamiliar movement, I know that I can always ring for the cabin attendant and ask about it. I am in complete and total control of how I feel. Looking upon this is an opportunity to meet a challenge and master it. I realize that the rewards can be exhilarating and exciting. Each and every time I fly I enjoy it more than the time before. I greatly anticipate each and every flight. I see myself now, landing safely and securely, smoothly and effortlessly. As the plane decelerates and comes to a stop I can feel an overwhelming surge of pride and an accomplishment deep within my heart, as I know now that I have conquered the fear of flying. I have overcome that old fear that I used to have. I no longer have a fear of flying but instead I enjoy it very much.

34.

Now in a moment I am going to awaken myself by counting from one to five, and when I do, I will allow my eyes to open only as soon as I am willing to accept each and every one of these suggestions that I have just made to myself. When I open my eyes I will be completely out the hypnotic state. I will awaken with a marvelous feeling of well being. I will feel wonderful in every conceivable way. One…. I am beginning to awaken. Two…. I am completely and totally revived. Three …. I am physically refreshed and mentally alert. Four…. I am exceptionally clear headed and Five…. I open my eyes now. I am wide awake and feeling fine and wonderful. I am wide awake and alert. FEAR OF HEIGHTS – ACROPHOBIA I am just continuing to relax now deeper and deeper, feeling more and more relaxed. At this time I am going to present some suggestions to my subconscious mind. I will find these suggestions to be reasonable, acceptable and in my best interest. These suggestions will help me overcome my fear of heights. In order for me to be completely comfortable with heights, I have to be able to depend on my own sense control, balance and orientation. I am now in touch with my body and I know when I am upright and when I am leaning. I am more keenly aware of everything. I am asking myself some very important questions. Questions like, where do I stand? How firmly do I stand? How do I handle the conflicting positions in my life? Where is my center of gravity? What keeps me in balance? When I first become aware of a phobic attack, I pin down exactly what I am feeling and dong. I am learning to identify and define my emotional sate at that time. What else am I thinking of when I become fearful? Why do I expect it to happen to me? Am I reminded of anxieties that also appear in non-phobic situations? I am gradually learning that there is no case for my fear of heights. I can retrain myself now to be in complete and total control. Phobias are the outgrowth of valid natural cautions, or an appropriate fear acquired from a specific frightening incident. I also find that in retraining myself not to fear heights I begin to see the connections to the true fear that I am struggling with, and I begin to deal directly with that fear. I am from this moment on establishing a goal for myself. That goal is that I am now able to work comfortable in a tenth floor office building. I overcome my fear of heights by gradually exposing myself to increasingly fearful situations that are similar to that goal. For example I begin on the first floor in which I start to feel anxiety. I stay on that floor doing some kind of task for as long as I comfortably can.

35.

When the anxiety gets too high I can just leave. But I keep returning to the same place I do gaze out the window, perhaps counting all the red automobiles form below, watching for a pedestrian in the street, or what ever distracting task I wish to do. I do this until I feel completely comfortable at this high elevation. Then I move up to the next level. I do this repeatedly at this high elevation. Then I move up to the next level. I do this repeatedly every day whenever I can. Each and every day I try to exceed my goal in practice sessions. I resolve now to push myself and I am learning gradually to reduce my fear of heights. I also find myself replacing fear with the feeling of peace and relaxation, confidence and balance, stability and security. From now on whenever I find myself in a fearful situation I just close my eyes for a movement and take a deep breath. As I exhale I am picturing and imagining myself as calm and relaxed as I am now. To reinforce this relaxation I say or think to myself five times the word “stability”. Then I take another deep breath, exhale and continue doing what ever I want to do. As I do this, I begin to immediately relax. All of the stress, tension and anxieties I associate with my situation begin to fade away. There is only peace calmness and tranquility in my life. Each and every day continually I am overcoming all of my phobic situations, reminding me that fear of heights strengthens my confidence not only in high places, but also in many situations in life in general. I am learning more about myself, much more about myself. I am learning how I really view myself, and the pressures that are threatening me. Fear of heights is a signal that I am not solidly grounded or harmoniously balanced. So I let my fear be my teacher and not my enemy. I am learning to listen more deeply and I am so very proud of what I have been able to accomplish. As I overcome this fear or heights I feel wonderful and so very proud of what I have been able to accomplish, easily naturally and effectively. Now in a moment I am going to awaken myself by counting from one to five. When I reach the count of five my eyes will be open and I will be wide awake and completely out of my hypnotic state. In addition with every numeral that I count I will feel myself getting higher and higher into the air, and as I do so I will feel comfortably relaxed. The next time that I reach five my eyes will open and I will feel like a giant within. Comfortable and balanced, walking on air, I am now beginning to awaken and rise up now. Two…. I am completely comfortable and relaxed. Three…. I am feeling larger than life itself. I am secure and stable in my new height. Four…. I am exceptionally clear headed. Five…. Ii am wide awake feeling great, wonderful and taller than I have ever felt before. I am feeling completely comfortable, alert and aware.

36.

FEAR OF SUCCESS I am drifting on down now deeper and deeper. I am learning to recognize the role that anxiety and super superstitions play in my fear of success. I am watching for something terrible that is about to happen as I get closer to succeeding. I am learning now to look out for the ways that anxiety can lead me to sabotage my own efforts, paying close attention to what I do and say. I catch on to my own negative feelings and to my tendency to put myself down or to diminish the importance of my achievements. I am learning now to define success for myself. I am realizing what achievements are important to me. I pursue only my goals and I do not try to fulfill someone else’s definition of success. I take stock of my own talents, abilities, ambitions and dreams. I am establishing my own realistic goals and acting to accomplish them. I am recognizing what levels of success and what areas of life I am able to control I am being selective. I am recognizing that I can’t complete every thing that I would like to. I concentrate on succeeding on projects where I have a fighting chance and where I feel ok about being a winner. I am being honest with myself if I don’t want some particular kind of success. I go after what ever I want, whether it is monetary, career, family, artistic, athletic or other. I realize now that I really am in complete control of my life, and that I can do almost any thing that my mind desires. I also set my aspirations at a reasonable level. Not so high as to guarantee failure and not to be so low as to be unchallengeable. I survey my attitudes about myself, reacting to praise warmly and proudly. I take compliments graciously. I indulge in deserved recognition with pleasure. I give myself honest credit for my skills and my abilities. The prospect of succeeding no longer makes me anxious or fearful. I resolve to share my ambitions and my goals. I work towards them with the important people of my life, so an idea of success will include them. As I work towards a goal, I try to anticipate the possible changes that success might bring to me. There might be an increase in responsibility, or envy and resentment from my co-workers. Competition and expectations may change from my present roll to a new and unfamiliar one. I resolve now to bring my fear of success out into the open and after I identify the risks I gauge my willingness, separating the real risks from the imaginary ones. I also watch out for the addiction to the security and familiarity that failure provides. No longer am I to stay put and avoid the discomforts of change. No longer am I ashamed of succeeding, especially at making money. It is not dishonorable to set goals, even purely monetary goals, and to go about accomplishing them with responsibility and honesty.

37.

It is not shameful to do well with what ever it is that I do. I keep in mind though that success is not exclusively a question of money. I take pride in my accomplishments, in whatever way they can be measured. If I have trouble with guilt, I commit myself to a plan for sharing my successes with my friends and relatives. I might give generous credit to people who help me succeed. I might even give to charity, or I might help others to succeed as well. I am bringing into my mind a past success. I am picturing and imagining some past success in my mind, right now. It could be a simple one. But I am just imagining and thinking about this now for a few moments (ten second pause). I am asking myself what my state of mind is. How does it feel to let myself achieve something? I can see, feel, hear, taste and smell all of the sensations that I felt then and am feeling now. I am imagining all of this in my mind right now. (Ten second pause) I notice how very good this makes me feel. I have a wonderful feeling of accomplishment. I now resolve to transfer that state of mind into my present efforts. I am doing that right now. I am picking some special effort that I am engaged in right now and transferring that feeling, just transferring all of my emotions, sensations and feelings. I am doing that right now. (Ten second pause) I am noticing how very good this makes me feel. It is a feeling that I will never trade back for that old fear of success. I am resolving now to feed my self confidence with my remembrances of my past successes. I trust myself and I take definite steps to accomplish my goals. I enjoy the pleasures of completing each step. I am adjusting to the changes that each success brings to me and I go on to the next step I do belong to the world and I do deserve to use my resources as fully as possible. By succeeding I show others that it can be done. I have more to give to people that I realize and I have taken care of the person I am primarily responsible for, and that is myself. All the suggestions that I have given myself are implanted deeply, firmly and permanently in the deepest reaches of my subconscious mind. My subconscious mind automatically accepts, retains and acts upon all of these suggestions to help me become the person that I want to be, will be and deserve to be… “A success”. Now in a moment I am going to awaken myself by counting from one up to five. When I reach the count of five my eyes will be open and I will be wide awake completely out of the hypnotic state. Awakening with a marvelous feeling of well being. I’m feeling fine and wonderful in every conceivable way. One… I am beginning to awaken. Two… I am completely and totally refreshed. Three…. I am physically and mentally alert. Four …. I am exceptionally clear headed. Five…. I open my eyes and I am wide awake feeling fine and wonderful en every way.

38.

FEAR OF WATER - AQUA-PHOBIA I am continuing to relax now deeper and deeper. I am so relaxed and so very peaceful. I am imagining myself right now going to a time long ago when water was my friend, when water was a good thing. A time when the very existence of fluid was my life support. I am going now all the way back, all the way back in time. I am going all the way back in time now to the womb. Feeling this warm comfortable moist environment in which I am alive and feeling wonderful. I feel totally safe and totally secure and surrounded by water. I know that water is a perfectly normal and natural thing. It’s the beginning of life and it is where I have experienced my first emotions of security and safety, and in a moment I am going to offer myself some suggestions directly to my subconscious mind. I will accept these suggestions knowing that they will benefit and support me in overcoming my fear of water. Whenever I am exposed to water I now recall times in which I felt completely confident, completely secure and completely safe. I know that I can feel safe and completely comfortable near water, around water and even in water. I know that if I don’t know how to swim I now have the courage and the ability within myself to seek swimming lessons and to understand and conquer my fears and overcome them, so that I can play and have a wonderful time in this wonderful fluid. I am now, day by day in each and every conceivable way, gaining more and more confidence. I am allowing myself to be near and in water. I know that I can get into water and feel completely safe and completely calm. Until I learn how to swim, I will think ahead keeping at arms reach a life preserver. I know that the life preserver can be a security for me and I can use it and feel safe, knowing that as long as the life preserver is with me, I will be fine. I am imagining myself after a long hard day, fatigued and tired. My muscles may even be aching, thinking about how wonderful it would be to have my body gently massaged by the jets of a whirlpool, as I imagine to myself a wonderful hot tub. I see myself climbing down, resting my entire body in this hot tub. I feel the comforts of the water massaging and soothing each and every muscle, each and every fiber and each and every bone in my body. I know that this same water that is making me feel so wonderful right now is just like any other water. In the future if I need to, all I have to do is go back to this moment in time when I was in this wonderful hot tub, and I will feel much more secure an about being in water I can feel the exact sensations of relaxation I am now going to teach myself a very powerful technique that will assist me in gaining confidence and security in my dealings with water.

39.

Any time that I am presented with a situation which in the past may have produced feelings of fear, I will just simply close my eyes, take a nice deep relaxing breath of air and count backwards from five all the way down to one. When I get down to one, I will say the word “Saftey” five times. As I say the word “Safety” five times, the thoughts of a whirlpool and a wonderful hot tub will come rushing into my mind or perhaps thoughts of before I was an infant in my mothers womb surrounded by fluid. A feeling of total safety and total security will rush into my mind as I say the word “Safety” five times. Then I will take one more deep cleansing breath of fresh air and open my eyes, realizing that the water is my friend ant that I need it to survive. Seventy five percent of the body is made up of water, therefore it is perfectly natural for me to want to be in water, gong back to an environment in which I was before I ever experienced anything else in life. I am now offering and making suggestions directly to my subconscious mind. If my conscious mind wants to listen that’s Ok. My level of confidence near water and in water is increased day by day in every way. Each and every day as I shower or take a bath this water will remind me how wonderful, fun and comfortable water can be. I will take that with me whenever I am surrounded or placed in an environment in which I am near water. Whether that is an ocean, a lake or a wonderful river, I will always be able to feel these feelings of security deep inside me and I will accept and store these suggestions deep within my subconscious mind. I am taking a moment now to digest and store these suggestions that I have just made to myself. I am sorting them deep in my subconscious mind now. In a moment I am going to awaken myself by counting from one to five and by the time I reach the count of five my eyes will have opened and I will be wide awake completely out of the hypnotic state. I will awaken with a marvelous feeling of well being, feeling fine. I will feel wonderful in every conceivable way. One…. I am beginning to awaken with a new acceptance of being with water. Two…. I am completely and totally refreshed as if I have had a wonderful and cleansing shower, or a long comfortable bath. Three…. I am physically and mentally refreshed. Four…. I am exceptionally clear headed. Five…. My eyes are open wide now. I am wide awake and feeling fine with a wonderful sense of how wonderful water really is.

40.

FINANCIAL SUCCESS I am continuing to go down now, deeper and deeper. I realize that it has been said that financial success and prosperity are ninety eight percent mental preparation and two percent outer action. But most people reverse this and apply two percent of mental preparation and ninety eight percent outer actions. More and more with each passing day I find myself devoted totally and completely to financial success and prosperity. I am now totally and completely devoted to financial success and prosperity. I am now and forever dissolving the barriers between money and myself. I am deciding now that I am running money, and money is not running me. If I am facing any other problems in my life at this time I am now focusing on the problem of making money, without asking money to solve all of my problems. I am no longer plagued with the negative thinking that I grew up with the idea that I am no good, and that I can’t do anything right. I am now developing a positive self image about myself, and my money. So I will now resolved that “I am going to find ways to make it happen” I am also learning to concentrate much better than I used to. The millionaire mentality displays self confidence, enthusiasm and tremendous capacity for hard work, and also for smart work. I also resolve not to worry about money. I just go ahead and involve myself in my right livelihood, my particular passion, or whatever it is that I am doing. I am separating the problem of money from what I am doing for a living. I now find that money comes to me if I am doing the right thing. I also resolve to be an independent individualist, a non conformist, a rebel who is never satisfied with the status quo. I am an imaginative, original, resourceful and entirely self reliant entrepreneur. I take risks, seeing new horizons constantly and I seek new and better ways to do things. I now admit openly that I like money, I need money and I want money, and most of all I deserve money. I resolve now to avoid irrelevant activities. I am setting priorities and avoiding procrastination. I avoid the temptation to stop and start, stop and start, stop and start. I now do it once and I get it over with. I am now picturing and imagining a gigantic magnetic whirlpool. On the outer circumference of this whirlpool I can see all the things that I want. I see these things just swirling around in the whirlpool. On the outer circumference of this whirlpool I can see all the things that I want. I see these things just swirling around in the whirlpool. On the outer circumference of this whirlpool I can see all the things that I want. I see these things just swirling around in the whirlpool, perhaps there are TV sets, refrigerators, or thousand dollar bills. Perhaps there are new cars or even a new home.

41.

I am mentally pulling into the centre of this psychic whirlpool, each of the things that I want to attract. I am doing that right now. (Ten sec. pause) I am picturing and imagining what I will do with the new money that I am going to attract. How will I decorate my new office or my new home? I can picture and imagine myself driving now that brand new car that I have always wanted, or traveling to all those wonderful places that I’ve always longed to visit. All of these things can make my life so much more rewarding. I am imagining all the things in my life that I would love to do. (Ten sec. Pause) I am now realizing and expecting each and every day that my financial condition as it is today is but a temporary condition. I am finding that I have no anxiety about this. Instead I live comfortably and relaxed. I am constantly picturing and imagining myself as a happy and confident individual. I am no longer putting creative energy into problems. I am no longer wasting that energy. Instead, I am directing that energy into imagining solutions. I no longer think of the little money I have. Instead I think and conceive of myself as prosperous and rich. I plan for a wealthy future. I am realizing now that I am rich in experience and knowledge. My talents and capabilities are tremendous. I am the most valuable person that I know. I am climbing that ladder of success all the way to the top. The top is where I know that I belong. Each and every day in every conceivable way, I condition my mind to success and keep it focused on financial prosperity and the ways of attaining it. My subconscious mind helps me in every away to achieve this financial success that I want to have, deserve to have and will have. All of the thoughts that have limited me in the past and kept me from achieving the financial success and prosperity that I so richly deserve are now falling away. I find myself free of all the financial limitations. The knowledge, ideas and plans begin to appear in my inner mind. Unlimited opportunities begin to unfold for me now, opportunities which I seize and act upon with self confidence. Daring in self assuredness and like a magnet I attract to myself all that I desire. I can feel day by day the inevitable movement of financial success and prosperity towards me. Day by day in every way I cultivate the thoughts of abundance and prosperity. I start first with the acceptance of all of these suggestions. I know that these suggestions will support me in becoming both wealthy on the inside as well as wealthy on the outside. Now I am going to count to myself from one to five and by the time I react the count for five I will be wide awake, willing and ready to go out and begin my trip to wealth and success. One…. I have a renewed sense of anticipation for earning money.

42.

Two…. Bringing in all of these suggestions, accepting them and being ready to make the money I deserve to have and will have. Three….. I am returning back into my body with that renewed sense of excitement. Four….. Movement is coming back into my toes and my fingertips and five…. I open my eyes, wide awake feeling wonderful, refreshed and ready to become that wealthy person that is within me. MEMORY IMPROVENT I am just drifting down now deeper and deeper. I am becoming more and more relaxed. I am learning to concentrating my mind more and more. I am determined to be very receptive and to accept the suggestions that I am about to make to myself. I do have the ability to improve my memory and my recall. The art of memory is the art of retention and attention. In order to remember something I must pay very close attention to it. People who do not pay attention do not remember. For instance I think of a name and I look at a person. I associate the two. Association is one of the keys to good memory recall. From now on when I meet someone, I want to know that persons name. I really want to remember it. This is the process that I used to remember. I concentrate my mind, I think, look, listen, association and remember. In being able to recall something I have to store it in my subconscious mind properly. I have to put the thoughts in my memory bank before I can recall them. I have an excellent memory. I am going to use it. I am going to pay attention. I must very literally pay attention, close attention. That way I store the facts properly in my memory bank and they are ready for me when ever I want or need them. From this moment on, every day I utilize my good memory. I always pay attention. I pay attention to exactly what is going on around me. I pay attention to exactly what is being said and to exactly what I hear and to exactly what I see. So from now on when I need to go into my memory bank to make a withdrawal, I have already deposited something to withdraw. The facts are properly stored and they are ready for me. They are ready for me when ever I want or need them. My memory bank is just like any other bank. When I go into a bank to make a withdrawal I do not hold them up with a pistol. Instead I fill out a withdrawal slip or write a cheque and have it cashed. I do the same thing with my memory bank. It is not necessary to force my memory bank to give me the information. I simply concentrate my mind, request the information, relax and let it drift right up into my conscious awareness. I have a great memory. I have an excellent memory. This is true for every single living human being. It is part of the way that we are made.

43.

I need to learn to use my memory properly. Force only leads to frustration. In order to recall anything I simply let my subconscious mind know what I want. Anything that I want to know then comes into my conscious awareness naturally and easily. If it does not come immediately I will forget about it. I will totally and completely just forget about it. I will forget about the process of trying to remember it. The information that I want washes on the sands of my conscious awareness in a few moments, sometimes when I least expect it. Any information that I want comes into my conscious awareness naturally, and easily. One technique for recall, if I want to remember where I left something, is to go through the emotions that I was going through or what I was doing at the time that I left it, but to do so in a relaxed meditative manner. Fully associated, I retrace my steps mentally. By retracing the steps, I am writing a cheque and it is cashed in that memory bank. To write this mental cheque I must do something that is associated with the information that I want. I want something from my memory bank. I do not know what it is, however I do know some other bit of information that is associated with what I want or that is related to it. I use that bit of information as the cheque I write in order to get a withdrawal from the memory bank of my subconscious mind. Knowing and practicing this technique tremendously increases my ability to recall. I am surprised and amazed at how precise, accurate and effective my memory is. My memory has always been good. By properly training and utilizing the memory system that I have in my subconscious mind I am able to obtain maximum recall. I proved myself with maximum deposits. I develop maximum recall. I have an excellent, always alert and always active mind. All of these suggestions are very important to me because they represent the proper way to utilize my good memory, the excellent memory that I have. First I make the proper deposit in my memory bank by paying attention. I think look, listen, associate and then remember. Second, when I want to make a withdrawal from my memory bank, my memory and my recall is always successful because the withdrawal is done in the proper manner. I do not force it. Instead, I just let I happen. I utilize some natural association that I already know in order to bring out the information that I want. All of these suggestions improve my memory and my recall. They take complete and thorough effect on my mind, my emotions, my body and my spirit, as they store themselves in the deepest parts of my subconscious mind. I am reinforcing these suggestions now as I drift down deeper and deeper. I am so calm and so comfortable and relaxed. I realize now that all of these suggestions are completely effective and available through out my life when ever I need them. I am growing more and more comfortable, more and more confident.

44.

I am feeling so calm, serene and secure in the knowledge that these suggestions which are now seated permanently in my subconscious mind are available for my use when ever I need them, as I drift down deeper and deeper. I am so deeply relaxed now. All of these suggestions are implanted permanently and firmly in the deepest parts of my subconscious mind, completely and thoroughly effective. These suggestions are always automatically available as I drift down deeper and deeper. Now in a moment I am going to awaken myself by counting from one to five. I will now awaken at the count of five feeling refreshed and wide awake, with an improved memory beyond my conscious comprehension. One…. I am feeling so refreshed, alive and awake. Two…. I feel my memory banks expanding now, ready for their deposits. Three…. The circulation is returning back into my body. Four…. Movement is retuning to my fingers and toes. Five…. I am feeling wonderfully refreshed and wide awake. I am totally wide awake and alert. IMPROVE YOUR GOLF I am continuing to drift on down deeper and deeper now, feeling so very calm, so comfortable and so very relaxed. I am now going to present some suggestions to my subconscious mind. These suggestions I am going to find reasonable, acceptable and in my best interest. These suggestions will help me to become the kind of golfer that I can be, deserve to be and will be. I will allow my subconscious mind to resume its proper roll in my golf swing. I am finding that this alone produces the automatic grooved wing that I so very much desire. I am finding that I am now hitting the ball with an automatic swing and using my subconscious mind to make the stroke. When I allow my conscious mind with its reasoning power to control the swing of the club I am aware of all the penalties involved, and this creates fear, which in turn produces muscular tension. I find that now and in the future I no longer experience this muscular tension as I let my subconscious mind do the job that it was designed to do, easily and naturally. I am now picturing my favorite golf pro making the perfect swing, and I notice that the main characteristics are power, rhythm and balance. I am picturing this golf pro in my mind now making a perfect swing. (Ten sec. pause) With this image now firmly fixed in my mind, I can see myself making that swing. I can picture myself doing that perfect swing. I find that it is real in my mind and that I can actually feel the swing of the club, the follow through and I can see the flight of the ball.

45.

I mentally picture myself making that perfect swing. I notice how the club feels in my hands. I am totally aware of the grip that I am using and rhythm of my swing. I feel how wonderful this feels. I am visualizing all of this in my mind right now. (Ten sec. pause) Realizing that now and in the future this is how it shall be. I can picture and imagine myself making that same swing in slow motion. I can see every movement, at the top of the back swing and I can feel the pause, noticing how the first movement is made by my left hip and the lower part of my body. I can actually see my left heal come down firmly and my right knee slide in so that there is a path for my hands to come in to make that champion drive. I see the follow through as the club head comes on the line of flight, and then follows up high. I first picture this in slow motion and then I speed it up in my mind. I see myself hitting that perfect shot. I will picture this over and over again in my mind. Once more, and one more time, that perfect shot. I find that now and in the future, the night before playing the game I will use this technique that I am now learning, particularly if I am familiar with the course. Before a game I will now picture myself on this first tee. I can see myself raising the best angle for the tee shot. I can picture and imagine myself swinging the driver and I follow the flight of the ball to where I wish it to land. Then I picture and imagine myself selecting the iron that I use to reach the green. I picture and imagine myself putting easily and naturally, effectively with total relaxation. I continue this procedure until all eighteen holes have been played in my mind. By doing this I find that every time I step to a tee, I feel that this particular shot has already been made in advance and a tremendous felling of confidence will be reflected in a lower score and in a more relaxed and enjoyable game. Now and in the future every time that I play a round of golf I will find that I am physically free, and my body is able to move naturally, seemingly on its own, unhampered by tensions. I find that I am becoming more mentally focused on my game. I am concerned only with the activity of making the play. I am not thinking of the past or the future. I am concentrating totally on that one particular shot. To help me attain this perfect concentration I am now going to teach myself a very simple but very powerful technique. In the future before a game or at times during a game when I do have the time, I am going to take a few moments and go off by myself and close my eyes. I take a deep breath and hold it for a moment. As I exhale I picture myself just as calm peaceful and relaxed as I am right now.

46.

I just let my mind drift back to this time and this place, so relaxed and so peaceful. To attain that perfect concentration I say or think to myself five times the word, “concentrate”. I then take another deep breath. I open my eyes and I concentrate. My thoughts begin to narrow down to the game at hand. I find myself concentrating totally and vividly on the ball, and on the shot. I move easily naturally and gracefully, making all the moves, all the shots and all the plays. Now in a moment I am going to awaken myself counting from one up to five. When I reach the count of five my eyes will be open and I will be wide awake and completely out of the hypnotic state. I will awaken with a marvelous feeling of well being and I will feel fine. I am feeling wonderful in every conceivable way. One…. I am beginning to awaken. Two…. I am completely and totally refreshed. Three…. I am physically refreshed and mentally alert. Four…. I am exceptionally clear headed. Five… My eyes open now and I am wide awake feeling fine and wonderfully refreshed and relaxed. OVERCOMING INSOMNIA I am continuing to relax deeper and deeper now. I am remembering a time (yawn) when I was so incredibly tired, fatigued and exhausted. I am exhausted to the point where I am barely able to keep my eyes open (yawn). A time when every breath I take would relax me more and more. (yawn) Maybe it was when I was a child after a hard days play. Maybe it was in the back of my parent’s car, counting the telephone poles, as they seemed to drift by the window. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven or maybe it was a time when I was watching TV. As I began scanning through the channels in my memory I become less aware of what was on TV and more aware of how wonderful it felt to close my eyes just for a moment. I am pretending that I am dreaming right now. I am dreaming that I am perfectly still and I am dreaming that I am listening to myself. I am pretending that I am dreaming right now, and that I’ve proven that I can pretend that I am dreaming. I am going to pretend that I am no longer pretending and that I really am asleep and dreaming right now. In a moment I’m going to count to myself from ten all the way down to zero. As I do so I will allow myself to become ten times deeper relaxed with every numeral that I count. Dreaming that I am counting now, ten… All of the muscles in my scalp and forehead are growing very comfortable and relaxed, and I find that as I think of these muscles relaxing, they will relax. As the muscles of my forehead relax. I may notice a slight increase in tension around my eyebrows. I am concentrating now on the eyebrows and all the little muscles around my eyes.

47.

I allow this tension to just fade away. I let the muscles of my eyes relax now, and I let that relaxation move deep into the back of my eyes to the centre of my head. As the muscles of my forehead relax and I may notice a slight increase in tension around my eye brows. I am concentrating now on the eyebrows and all the little muscles around my eyes. I allow this tension to just (yawn) fade away. I let the muscles of my eyes relax now and I let the relaxation move deep into the back of my eyes to the centre of my head. As the muscles of my eyelids relax they may close tightly and perhaps flutter slightly or maybe not. It really doesn’t matter if they flutter, or if they close even more tightly. The only thing that matters is that the muscles of my eyes are relaxed. They are deeply relaxed now. Nine, all of my facial muscles relax. The relaxation moves down over my cheekbones and cheeks. My jaw and my chin, my lips and my mouth relax. I let this relaxation move deep inside my mouth now as the muscles of my mouth relax, I find that my mouth automatically becomes not to dry, but just moist enough to become perfectly comfortable. I let this relaxation spread into my throat. It moves deep into the back of my head and my neck. It moves deep into the back of my shoulders. As the muscles of my neck and shoulders relax, it feels perhaps like a thousand little fingers gently massaging the muscles of my neck and my shoulders. Eight, my arms relax now. I am relaxing the upper bones, down into my elbows and down into my forearms, all the way into the palms of my hands and into each and every fingertip. (yawn) I am becoming so relaxed and tired now. Seven, I am bringing my attention back again into those relaxed muscles of my neck and my shoulders. I’m letting the relaxation now flow into my chest and my lungs. My breathing is easy and gentle. I feel myself relaxing now more and more with each and every breath that I take. Six, I am beginning to focus my breathing now as I breathe out. I am breathing out all the tension and all of the stress. I feel how wonderful it is to relax with every breath that I take. Five, I am just letting the relaxation spread now into my back. I feel it moving gently down through my back and into the small of my back and into the small of my back. I am letting all the muscles of my body go to sleep while I remain perfectly consciously aware. Each and every muscle begins to fall asleep. Four, I allow my legs to relax now. I can feel my relaxation spread into my thighs and my knees now as I move down deeper and deeper into deep relaxation. I let my muscles relax all the way down to my ankles, deeper and deeper as my feet relax. The relaxation moves down into my heels, to the bottom of my feet and deep into my toes. It feels so good to relax, just letting all of those tensions go. Three, I may now begin to notice the weight of my body.

48.

My eyelids are very heavy, and they may feel so heavy that I just want to keep them closed for a long long time. My legs may begin to feel so very heavy and my arms so heavy as if gravity is just pulling them downward. Two, I am experiencing now a very deep restful and relaxing form of sleep. As I am dreaming my mind seems to be drifting through space. It is almost as if I was floating on a cloud. Drifting and floating now, floating and drifting. As I begin having thoughts enter my mind, various thoughts, I am just drifting deeper and deeper down. One, I am so tired as so dreamy now as I continue to be deeper and deeper down. I feel my body being pulled into the subconscious relaxation now as it feels so wonderful. I am so incredibly relaxed now. I can sleep comfortably and easily now, knowing that sleep is an important part of absolute health, and it is easy to do because it is my subconscious doing it for me. I am giving myself the gift of falling asleep easily, night after night. I begin finding that I always have the ability to rest and sleep easily from now on. I know that I can become twice as effective of a person and twice a s productive if I sleep healthfully each night. I am allowing myself to begin sleeping easily now. If I need assistance I know that I can slowly count from ten down to zero. When I reach zero I will fall into a deep deep sleep, just continuing to sleep now. Continuing to sleep deeper and deeper as long as I need to. I am deep asleep. OVERCOMING PROCRASTINATION I am continuing to drift on down deeper and deeper now, so calm, so comfortable and so very relaxed. I am going to present some suggestions to my subconscious mind right now. These are suggestions that I am gong to find reasonable, acceptable and in my best interest. I am resolving now to forgive myself for my past sins of procrastination. I am giving up now the self punishing guilt and regret. I am getting on with the present. I no longer work myself up into a depression over past things left undone. If I haven’t done something I am not by definition a failure. I am just a person with many positive and negative neutral characteristics. If I really can’t or don’t want to do something I am being honest with myself now, and with other people involved, so that they can act with out me. If I have to put something off for external reasons I now request a specific time extension and if this inconveniences someone I offer to compensate that person in some other way. But I am resolved to be open about my need to delay, and I will resolve to finish. I am learning now to set priorities and recognizing what I need to do and what I have to do.

49.

I will do the tasks that are most important. If my life is disorganized I now create a realistic routine that will make it easier for me to keep track of my responsibilities. I am resolving now to access my needs realistically and honestly. I am identifying what I am willing to do in order to gain something I want in the future. I now gauge my frustration and tolerance. What the future rewards me with is sufficient to keep me working instead of procrastinating. I am now setting practical minimum goals for myself, breaking down large tasks into more manageable smaller ones. I learn from my success and with these successes, I can control my behavior. I practice making rapid decisions on minor issues that have minor consequences. For instance I wear the first appropriate clothing I think of to work or to a party. I order the first appealing item on the lunch menu and I decide whether I want pepper on my salad with out taking a poll of the others at the table. I do small tasks that pop into my head immediately if I am not occupied. If I am busy I make a note and I do the little tasks as soon as I am free. I am learning now to trust my ability to make decisions. I am focusing now on short time intervals and I am deciding what I am going to do with them right now. I am now making a clear decision as to what I am going to do in the next fifteen minutes after I finish offering myself these suggestions. I can picture and imagine myself completing this task with abundant and abounding enthusiasm. I am feeling so good about being able to complete this task. Already I begin to feel the energizing effects of pleasing myself by fulfilling my responsibilities. I am feeling now a sense of accomplishment and a sense of well being, as well as a sense of pride within myself. I am resolving now to keep track of my behavior. I am realizing what I like to do and why I don’t like to do. When I complete a task that I’ve been avoiding I reward myself by doing something that I like to do. Maybe I like reading, working on a hobby, or maybe just going to the movies. It’s been said that there are two types of pain in the world, the pain of discipline and the pain of regret. The pain of discipline weighs ounces while the pain of regret weighs tons. So I am learning now to get into touch with my feelings about doing an uncomfortable task. I am asking myself how bad it would actually feel to get it over with. How much self criticism is it worth to keep putting it off? What does the task involve and what is the risk involved in tackling that particular task? I practice accepting a certain amount of anxiety and suspense as I take risky actions. Thinking of my self now as an heroic person, embarking on a voyage of discovery even if it is to just to get the tires rotated. I am resolving now to let go of any form of anxiety that I might have. Realizing now that doing is the most important thing. Doing well is fine but doing poorly is a frequent potentially valuable human experience. I am resolving now to do better for myself

50.

I am telling myself to treat myself better. I am telling myself to stop sabotaging that part of me that procrastinates. I do have control over most of what I do and what I don’t do. There is always a choice, and I am learning to make my choices quicker and more accurately. I am now becoming a person who gets things done much quicker than I used to. All of these suggestions I am implanted deeply, firmly and permanently in the deepest reaches of my subconscious mind. This will help me become the person that I want to be, deserve to be and will be. I am going to awaken myself now by counting from one up to five. When I reach the count of five, my eyes will be open and I will be wide awake, completely out of the hypnotic state and awakening with a marvelous feeling of well being. I am feeling fine and wonderful in every conceivable way. One…. I am beginning to awaken now. Two.. I am awakening and I feel totally refreshed. Three…. I am physically refreshed and mentally alert. Four…. I am occupationally clear headed. Five…. My eyes are open. I am wide awake and feeling fine. I am wonderfully refreshed and wide awake. OVERCOMING CLAUSTROPHOBIA I am continuing to go deeper and deeper into relaxation. I am so calm and so comfortable. I am going to make some suggestions to my subconscious mind right now. I will find these suggestions to be reasonable, acceptable and in my best interest. I understand now that no outside force is making me claustrophobic. My body is simply responding to the way I am thinking. When I learn to cope with my nervous symptoms, as well as with the situation of my fear, I will find myself overcoming my claustrophobia easily, naturally and effectively. I am in as much control of my emotions as I want to be. I have proven in the past that I can accelerate my negative emotions in dealing with claustrophobia, but what I may not have realized until now is that because I can accelerate my negative emotions, so to can I remove them. I can accelerate my positive emotions leading to feelings of greater calm and control. I find myself in greater control of my emotions whenever I find myself in closed places. I am imagining myself standing on the tenth floor of a building and I am waiting for the elevator. The elevator arrives with the sound of a bell. I hear a gentle swishing sound as the doors of the elevator open. I walk inside and turn around to face the form of the elevator and I notice that the walls of the elevator are covered with a richly grained wood. Beneath I can feel the plush red carpet and at the front of the elevator to the right of the doors is a panel of buttons.

51.

I wish to go down to the lobby which is the first floor of the building. I push that button that is marked with the number one. Above the doors of the elevator is a row of lights with numbers superimposed over them. The light with the number ten is lit, indicating indeed that I am on the tenth floor. The doors of the elevator close and as they close I notice that I am aware of how big the elevator compartment really is. I feel comfortable and assured in these situations. With a very slight jolting motion the elevator begins its descent downward. Now this is a very special elevator because with each and every floor that I travel downward, in my minds eye I find myself growing even more deeply relaxed. By the time I reach the first floor I will be more relaxed than I’ve ever been before. Now the number ten light goes out and the number nine light blinks on. The number nine light goes out and the number eight light comes on. The number eight light goes out now and the number seven light comes on. Seven, six, five, four, with each and every floor I travel down I feel more and more relaxed, more and more relaxed. I am not even aware of that I am in an elevator compartment. I am just beginning to relax more and more. I am feeling very calm and assured. I realize how big that elevator compartment really is and I am in complete control of all my emotions. The number four light goes out now and the number three light comes on, two and now one. I am more and more deeply relaxed and at ease. I’ve reached the first floor and the elevator comes to a halt. The doors open and I step out into the lobby feeling calm and comfortable. I am so very very relaxed. In the future I find myself replacing calmness, tranquility and serenity. I experience feelings of pride that I have overcome these limitations. In order to help me overcome these limitations I am going to teach myself a very simple but powerful technique. Whenever I find myself in a closed place, I will take a moment by myself, close my eyes and take a deep breath. I imagine myself as calm peaceful and deeply relaxed as I am right now. I am feeling so deeply relaxed now. As I feel this level of relaxation seep through my entire body, I repeat to myself the word “relax” five times. As I repeat the word “relax”, I notice that with every repetition I am indeed becoming more relaxed and more and more comfortable in this closed in place. At the end of the fifth word I take in a nice deep refreshing cleansing breath of air. I open my eyes now and I feel great. I am feeling comfortable and very relaxed, no matter how many people are in the room with me. In a moment I am going to awaken myself by counting from one up to five. When I reach the count of five, my eyes will open and I will be wide awake, completely out of the hypnotic state.

52.

I will awaken with a marvelous feeling of well being and will feel fine and wonderful in every conceivable way. There will almost be a feeling of anticipation of going to a closed in place. One…. I am beginning to awaken. Two…. I am completely and totally relaxed. Three..,.. I am physically refreshed. Four…. I am exceptionally clear headed. Five…. My eyes are open now and I am wide awake and feeling fine. I’m feeling wonderful and relaxed. OVERCOMING EXAM ANXIETY I am continuing to go on down now deeper and deeper. I am feeling so very relaxed and at ease. I am so calm and peaceful. I am going to present my subconscious mind with some suggestions. These are suggestions that I will be willing to accept, because they are for my own good and my own benefit. The fear of exams is really an unnecessary emotion, yet one that I am in complete and total control of. By the end of this recording I will no longer fear or produce anxiety whenever I think about taking an exam. From this moment on I am beginning to anticipate and actually look forward to examinations. I know that these exams will help me to reflect how much information I have consciously recalled. I know that I will be teaching myself techniques, very powerful techniques that will assist me in recalling information easily and effortlessly during my exams. I will be ale to remember what I have learned. I will recall the correct answers with total ease because I will be properly prepared. I will be able to take my examinations with a relaxed body and a clear sharp mind. When I enter the room and pick up my paper to read the questions, I will become completely calm and relaxed and all of my nervousness and apprehension will disappear completely. No matter how difficult the questions may seem at first sight, or how little I seem to know, I won’t panic. Instead I will stay calm because I will find that things are not as bad as they seem. From now on when I go into my examination room, I will apply this technique to recall the information I need easily and effortlessly. I will simply find a spot on the wall and begin gazing right at that spot. As I focus my attention on that spot, I will begin to realize that my peripheral vision is picking up everything in the room. I see the windows and the doors, the people that are moving to the left and to the right. All of these motions and movements that I detect in my peripheral vision will cause me to become extremely relaxed and totally calm, just as I am right now.

53.

In fact as I do this, I will also count backwards from five to one. When I get to one I will repeat the word “remember” five times. I will repeat the word “remember” five times and as I do so all of the noises around me will seem to disappear. I will not hear anything other than the instructions from my teacher, and my body will be calm and relaxed, totally at peace, reminding me of this exact time right now. When I read the questions on the examination paper, these questions will cause me to go instantly back in time to the time when I first received that particular information. To the best of my ability I will write down all of the answers and move on, skipping any answers, or skipping any questions that don’t come easily to my conciseness. Once I have completed the entire examination, I will go back to the blank questions and I will trust my subconscious mind. From now on I will trust my subconscious mind to produce for me the answers necessary to properly prepare myself and to pass all of my examinations, the hand in which I am no longer writing with, the hand in which I do not normally write with will begin creating physical responses, correlating directly with the answers in my subconscious mind. For example my little finger may be twitching when the answer is A. My ring finger may twitch when the answer is B. My middle may twitch when the answer is C, and my index finger will twitch when the answer is D. If there is an E my thumb will twitch. So when I read the question I simply need to star, gazing at the page. I need to allow my peripheral vision to come into focus and allow my hand to twitch the corresponding finger, which will signify what answer is correct to the best of the understanding of the storage in my subconscious mind. From now on I will have feelings of confidence because I have studied and properly prepared for the examination. I am certain that I will successfully finish the exam with ease and accuracy. I will read all of the questions carefully and deliberately. I will decide upon the one that I can tackle the best, and answer that one as fully as I can. I will do so with absolute confidence. I will not worry about the other ones until I have completed the one I am working on. As I do this I will find that I will actually remember far more than I thought I could ever be. I will remember. I will remember the answers easily and effortlessly as long as I have studied and learned the information before the test. I will accept these suggestions knowing that they will support me and benefit me in preparing and taking examinations. I will accept these suggestions easily and effortlessly and store them in the deepest recesses of my subconscious mind.

54.

In a moment I am going to awaken myself by counting from one to five. When I get to five my eyes will open, but they will open only when I am willing to accept these suggestions to enable myself to remain calm and peaceful during my examinations. One…. I am becoming alert and awake. Two…. I am feeling very refreshed. Three…. My mind and body are totally alert. Four…. My eyes are beginning to open and I am mentally alert. Five…. My eyes are open and I am wide awake, wonderfully refreshed and alert. PAIN RELIEF I am continuing to drift down deeper and deeper. I am picturing and imagining myself walking down a beautiful mountain path. It’s midnight in the middle of winter and I’m bundled up in a coat gloves, hat and boots. I can picture and imagine myself outside in the cold fresh winter air. As I do this, I take in a big deep breath, cleaning my breath with fresh pure mountain air. It feels so good to breathe as my entire ribcage gives way to total relaxation. The moon is full and silvery and the air is crisp and cool. It is refreshingly cold, and I can see my breath in white puffs as I walk down this beautiful mountain path. On either side of the path I can see tall deep green pine trees laden with snow. The snow is knee deep and every thing has a bluish tinge to it. Even the snow looks blue. I am totally at peace with myself as ten minutes pass, twenty minutes and thirty minutes go by. Now I stop and take the glove off my right hand. I thrust my warm hand into the snow. I make a fist, compressing the snow into an ice ball in the palm of my hand. As I do so I am beginning to feel a numb leathery wooden like, yet comfortable sensation beginning n my right palm. As this numb leather like sensation spreads throughout my hand I feel my entire hand becoming completely and totally numb. As I sit there in my chair I am picturing and imagining this numb wooden leather like sensation. My hand is becoming more and more numb and I am becoming more relaxed. Totally numb, tingling numbing, totally numb, totally numb, totally numb, (Totally numb should be said slower each time that it is said. The last time should be said very slow.)

55.

I am now placing my right hand upon my right cheek and begin rubbing that right cheek very very gently. And as I do so I just let the entire numbness drain from my hand and into my cheek. My cheek is becoming numb, wooden like, just as if Novocain had been injected into it. I am imagining all of this right now. Totally numb, totally numb, totally numb, totally numb. I am doing great. Now I can feel my hand becoming warm and alive as the blood begins to rush back into it. All of the numbness that drained from my hand are now moving into my cheek. I can place my hand at my side. I once again place my hand back onto my cheek and let all that numbness in my cheek drain right back into my right hand. I am doing this in my mind right now. I am transferring the numbness. Totally numb, totally numb, totally and complete numb, totally numb, totally numb, totally numb. I notice now how my hand becomes once again leathery and wooden like. Just like a block of wood with nails in it. My cheek is becoming hot and flush. The blood is rushing into that surface of the skin on my cheek. When all that numbness has drained from my cheek, back into my hand, once again I can place my hand at my side, totally numb, totally numb, totally completely numb, totally nub. I allow my hand to return to its normal feeling as I return to this time and this place. I am drifting even deeper, deeper and deeper. And in the future when I wish to rid my self of any discomfort anywhere in my body, all I have to do is just close my eyes and take in a deep breath of air. As I do I will just picture and imagine myself just as calm and deeply relaxed as I am right now. Letting my mind drift back to this time and this place, so relaxed. I can reinforce and strengthen this relaxation by saying to myself five times “relax”. After I’ve done that I will picture and imagine the hand of my choice growing very numb, wooden like and leathery, just as id did a few moments ago, and even more. Then I place my hand on the part of my body that is causing me discomfort. Then I begin chanting the mantra, totally numb, totally numb, totally nub. (Slower and slower each time) Totally numb. As I allow this numb and heavy and wooden like feeling to transfer from my hand into that part of my body, within just a few moments I will find that part of my body grows very very warm restful and relaxed. It is free from all discomfort, pain and uneasiness. This feeling remains with me for a very long time afterwards. Every time that I use this technique I will find it easier and easier to numb which ever part of my body I need to numb. Each time will be easier than the time before. It leaves me feeling even freer from pain discomfort and unease

56.

My subconscious mind helps me in every way to be free from all unnecessary discomfort, now and in the future. In a moment I am going to awaken myself by counting from one to five. When I reach the count of five my eyes I will accept these suggestions. I know that these suggestions are for my own good and for my own benefit. One…. I am beginning to awaken. Two…. I am completely and totally refreshed. Thee…. I am physically and mentally alert. Four…. I am exceptionally clear headed and Five…. My eyes are open and I am wide awake feeling fine and feeling wonderful. STOP NAIL BITING I am continuing to drift on down deeper, deeper and deeper, so calm and so comfortable. I am so very very relaxed. I am going to present myself with some suggestions to my subconscious mind. I will find these suggestions to be reasonable, acceptable and in my best interest. I am picturing myself walking down a very beautiful country lane. Above I can see the sky. It is the most beautify blue that I have ever seen. It is dotted here and there with a few white puffy clouds that lazily drift along. Beneath my feet I can feel the hard packed earth as I walk, and the air smells fresh and clean. It smells as if it has just been washed by a beautiful spring shower. I am walking beside an old wooden fence and on the other side of this fence is a beautiful white horse lazily grazing in a wonderfully green meadow. The scene is so peaceful and so relaxing. As I walk down the lane I can feel the sun warming every muscle, every nerve, every fiber, and every bone in my body. I feel good and I feel so wonderful and peaceful, vibrantly alive and healthy. As I walk down the lane I lean over the fence and I pluck a dandelion. As I reach for that dandelion my eyes happen to fall upon my fingernails. I notice now that they are nice, clean and healthy fingernails. They are exactly the length I want them to be. I notice now that the cuticles are nice and healthy. There is no more redness, no more soreness. I am no longer ashamed of my hands. I am no longer ashamed of my nails. In fact I am proud because my nails are looking nice and healthy. All of a sudden I realize that I have released the need to bite my nails. In fact the thought of eating my hands repulses me. I want nice clean healthy nails so very very much. There is absolutely no desire to bite my fingernails, knowing that it is a form of chewing my hands. I much more desire to leave my hands healthfully clean and perfectly natural, the way that hey were meant to be. I am now picturing and imagining myself in some sort of social situation. Perhaps I am dining with friends. I am beginning to notice now that I am no longer self conscious about my nails.

57.

I no longer have to hid e them, sitting on my hands, Folding my arms. In fact right now I see someone coming up to me. It may be an acquaintance. This person offers me their hand to shake it. I shake their hand in turn as I do so I realize that I am feeling confident and proud about my nails. My nails are nice and clean and healthy looking, exactly the way I want them to be. If I am ever tempted to have a thought or desire to want to reach toward my mouth with my fingernails, I always stop and ask myself do I really need to bite my fingernails? Do I really want to chew my hands? Do I really want to? Am I willing to trade these nice clean healthy nails for what I had way back in the past? I am able to say NO to that fingernail biting easily and naturally. I now know that I don’t need to bite those nails any longer. I don’t want them to be bitten any longer. Instead I want nice clean healthy fingernails so much more. The need and desire to bite my fingernails has now turned into a tremendous desire for clean and healthy good looking fingernails. Each and every time I say no to biting my finger nails a tremendous feeling of health comes over me. A tremendous feeling of contentment and wonderful warm glow of satisfaction and a feeling of pride will come over me. I want nice clean healthy and even nails so very very much. To help me refrain from biting my fingernails I find myself extending the very same principals of relaxation on this recording into my daily life. I am now going to teach myself a very simple but very powerful technique. If I ever find myself in a very stressful or very trying situation, one where I might be tempted to bite my nails, I will just close my eyes and take a deep breath. As I exhale I will picture and imagine myself as calm peaceful and deeply relaxed as I am right now. I am just letting my mind drift back to this time and this place right now, so deeply relaxed. To reinforce this relaxation, I say or think to myself five times, the word “relax”. Then I take another deep breath, open my eyes and go back to what I was doing before. As I do this I immediately begin to relax. All stress, tension and anxiety just fades away, and with it I won’t want, need, desire or think of biting my nails. I do not need to bite my fingernails any longer, because I want those nice clean healthy and even nails so much more than I’ve ever wanted before. That’s right, clean healthy nails. Now in a moment I am going to awaken myself by counting from one to five. When I reach the count of five my eyes will open and I will be wide awake and completely out of the hypnotic state. I will awaken with a marvelous feeling of well being, feeling fine, and feeling wonderful in every conceivable way. One…. I am beginning to awaken. Two…. I am completely and totally refreshed. Three…. I am physically and mentally alert. Four…. I am exceptionally clear headed. Five…. My eyes are open wide. I am awake feeling fine and feeling wonderful. 58. STOP WORRYING I am continuing to drift on down deeper and deeper into relaxation now. I am finding that day by day in every way, I am becoming increasingly more and more successful in overcoming worry. Gradually I find less and less need to worry about future problems and dangers, many of which are quite imaginary. It is said that eighty percent of the things we worry about never happen. Fifteen percent we can’t do anything about. So we really only have five percent to deal with, which really isn’t much at all. I am now becoming increasingly more able to determine the real dangers about the things that I fear. I now see what the possibilities are of these things actually occurring. Most of these things never happen anyway. I realize that I have just been making myself miserable for no reason at all. Day by day in every way I find myself becoming more and more successful in overcoming such pointless and self defeating worry. I now resolve to live for today, and not worry about the past or the future. I live today as best as I can. By doing this I will be doing the most within my power to make tomorrow better. I respond only to what has happened in the past, and I do not worry about what may happen in the future. I live today as best as I can. By dong this I will be doing the most within my power to make tomorrow better. I am becoming more and more aware of what is happening around me. I respond only to what has happened in the past, and I do not worry about what may happen in the future. As I occupy myself with only one thing at a time, I concentrate all of my awareness, responsiveness and energy to the immediate task at hand. In a relaxed and peaceful manner I am free from all nervousness and apprehension. It has been said that half the worry in the world is caused by people trying to make decisions before they have acquired sufficient knowledge. With this is mind I am acquiring confidence in my ability to make decisions wisely. I make these decisions after considering the consequences of my decision. When I’ve made a decision I rest content in knowing that I have made a wise decision. Then I dismiss it from my mind. I no longer worry about or second guess my decisions. I am also becoming flexible in my decisions. I make each decision in the light of my best present knowledge and I am content with that decision when I make it. If I acquire new knowledge I have the ability to make a new decision in light of that new knowledge. I now no longer think nearly as much about myself I no longer dwell nearly as much about myself and my difficulties and I become much less conscious about myself and much less preoccupied with myself. I am now permanently breaking the habit of worrying and I am leaning in its place a new habit.

59.

I now substitute pleasing wholesome positive images for worry. I am now imagining one specific thing or particular situation that I normally worry about I am picturing and imagining to myself all the various negative outcomes of this situation or event. I am vividly imagining all of this right now. (Ten sec. pause) I am picturing and imagining the worst possible outcome and I am allowing the appropriate and emotional feelings to manifest themselves within my mind. It is OK if I feel hurt, fear or anger. I am noticing now that this is how fear and anxiety develop. I am taking the same situation and imagining all the various possible outcomes. I imagine now, the best possible outcome and I allow the appropriate physical and emotional feelings to manifest themselves within me. I can be happy, joyful, or proud. Whatever emotions come to my mind, I am doing that right now. I notice how good this makes me feel. It makes me feel exuberant. From now on each and every time I find myself in a situation that formerly had me worry, I now respond instead by first choosing and imagining all the possible positive outcomes. I then concentrate on the best possible outcome, experiencing it as vividly as I can possibly imagine, using all of my senses both physical and emotional. I can do this by first closing my eyes, taking a deep breath and as I exhale I can picture and imagine myself as being as calm, as peaceful and relaxed as I am right now. Then I imagine two sprockets in the ends of my toes. I open the sprockets and all of the worry begins flow and drain right out of my body. I am just allowing all of that worry to drain right out of my body right now. I am continuing to proceed with my positive guided mental imagery each and every day. In every conceivable way I am breaking myself of the worry habit and I am responding in all situations with confidence and possessiveness. I no longer am a slave to needless self destructiveness and self defeating worry. I will now refuse to allow myself to be limited by the worry habit. Instead I am now developing a new positive mental attitude. All of these suggestions are implanted deeply, firmly and permanently in the deepest reaches of my subconscious mind. My subconscious mind automatically accepts all of these suggestions to help me become and remain a worry free, confident and positive person. Now in a moment I am going to count from one to five, and as I do I will feel myself awaken twenty percent with each number that I count. By the time that I reach the counting of five my eyes will be wide open and I will be awake and refreshed with a new sense of contentment and peace of mind. One…. I am allowing that peace of mind to enter into my body. Two… All of the worry just seems to dissipate and disappear. 60. Three…. I am locking into that peace of mind, that self assuredness Four…. Circulation is coming back into my entire body as I feel my fingers and toes beginning to move. Five…. My eyes are open up wide. I am wide awake and feeling wonderfully refreshed. I have total peace of mind and I am wonderfully relaxed and wide awake. IN CONCLUSION I am confident that if you take the time to study the material in this book and on the compact disk you will become a much happier and well adjusted individual. You should be able to control all of your bad habits through the use of this powerful science we call self hypnosis. Please remember when you listen to either my voice or your own recorded voice, that you should not expect to feel like you are entering into some sort of magical state of mind. As I mentioned earlier, hypnosis is just a deep form of relaxation. Some individuals try hypnosis a few times and believe they have failed, because they are expecting a different kind of feeling than what really takes place. It is true that some people are more suggestible than others are, but everyone can be hypnotized to a certain extent. Learn to relax your mind and open it up to the powerful suggestions that you can give yourself. Listen to the recordings enough times and eventually all of the suggestions will be a part of your subconscious mind. Soon you will realize that changes are starting to happen. Many positive changes will be happening that you might not even consciously be aware of. Take a few moments to write down some of the things that you would like to change in your life. Write down things that are not in any of the scripts in this book, and carefully add these suggestions to one of the scripts that you think is a good one for yourself. By applying yourself properly you’ll discover you are the master of your own body and mind. You can indeed do anything that your mind desires. “Anything that you can conceive and believe, you can achieve” Napoleon Hill Think positive at all times. You are in control of your own destiny.
